Topological Variability In Water Distribution Networks, James M. Anderson
Topological Variability In Water Distribution Networks, James M. Anderson
Theses and Dissertations
Water distribution networks are critical infrastructure characterized by difficulties in their assessment and deteriorating performance due to aging components. Resilience analysis of networked infrastructure has replaced traditional risk analysis to focus on performance. Global Resilience Analysis can provide useful information to decision makers and system managers regarding repair and expansion of networks. Network performance has been found to be directly informed by network structure. This work leverages graph theory to assess network qualities that correlate with resiliency characteristics across 69 real world water networks. These networks are then grouped by their structural properties through k-means clustering and compared using parametric …

Theses and Dissertations
My practice utilizes an intermedia and anti-disciplinary approach to conjure a reflexive vision of my experience as a gay and gender non-conforming person in rural Kentucky. Concepts that are important to my practice are storytelling, embodiment, and assemblage. Coming up gay in rural Kentucky I often felt like an assemblage. Not quite one thing entirely, but many parts swirling together in a fluidity that isn’t easily categorizable. Part farm boy, part faggot, part miss piggy. I am also interested in assemblage as a way of making. Found objects and images are tools I employ as a way of inviting the …
Investigating The Molecular Mechanisms Of Spore Killing By Neurospora’S Meiotic Drive Elements, Nicholas Rhoades
Investigating The Molecular Mechanisms Of Spore Killing By Neurospora’S Meiotic Drive Elements, Nicholas Rhoades
Theses and Dissertations
Meiosis is a fundamental and highly conserved biological program that is required for sexual reproduction in eukaryotes. During meiosis, duplicated chromosomes synapse with their homologous partner and undergo a physical exchange of genetic material through recombination. The meiotic products resulting from this program contain novel combinations of alleles that are inherited by individuals in the succeeding generation. The random assortment of alleles during meiotic recombination allows for the chance that any such allelic combination may provide an increase (or decrease) in fitness for an individual. Alleles, or combinations of alleles, that are beneficial to the organism may be retained within …
