An Investigation Into The Indicators Of A Successful Total Force Association, Greg E. Hoyt
An Investigation Into The Indicators Of A Successful Total Force Association, Greg E. Hoyt
Theses and Dissertations
The Air Force, since adopting and subsequently developing the Total Force concept in the early 1970s, has not thoroughly outlined clear objectives by which the progress toward and realization of this strategic vision should be defined and measured. Without clear definition, direction, and method of evaluation, the ability to credibly claim any subsequent successes or failures in the pursuit of this vision become vulnerable to challenge. Indeed, the mere claim that a single, clear vision exists may be challenged. The Total Force concepts degree of success has, on multiple occasions through its history, been critiqued with the most recent instance …

The Air Force Fitness Test: Creating New Fitness Assessment Charts Using Waist To Height Ratios, John R. Griffith
Theses and Dissertations
The Air Force currently uses AFI 36-2905 for fitness standards and evaluation, but no study to our knowledge has evaluated these standards using large databases. Using a 5.38 million record database from the Air Force Fitness Management System, we evaluated how the abdominal circumference, body mass index (BMI), waist to height ratio (WtHR), and height to weight ratio correlated to fitness as assessed by the 1.5 mile aerobic run in the Air Force Fitness Test. Whether individually or adjusting for age group and gender, WtHR performed better that the rest with an average rank score of 1.1 with a relative …

The Assessment Of Burnout And Resilience In Correctional Officers, Vera A. Klinoff
Theses and Dissertations
Correctional Officers are responsible for responding to emergency/crisis situations in correctional settings. Research shows that their work is characterized by numerous psychological stressors that vary by degree and intensity, which can lead to compromised job performance and, ultimately, job burnout. The purpose of this study was to: (a) identify whether select positive personal variables (i.e., hope, optimism, social support) are associated with increased resilience, (b) determine the extent to …
