A Public Relations Plan For The New Jersey Association Of Family And Consumer Sciences Regarding The Association Name Change And Its Impact On The Profession, Linda A. Strieter
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this project was to create a public relations plan to help promote wide acceptance of the name change, Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and a better understanding of the profession's future in New Jersey among its members. For non-Association members, awareness of the name change and its ramifications are the goals.
A scientific random survey of approximately 10 percent of Association members in November 1995 revealed an almost equal split in opinion about the name change among those questioned.
When most of the membership understands the benefits of the name change, the feeling will become more …

A Comparison Of Instruction Delivered By Two-Way Interactive Compressed Video And Traditional Conference: Attitudes And Achievement Of Residents In Family Medicine, Yvonne Larocca Lewis
A Comparison Of Instruction Delivered By Two-Way Interactive Compressed Video And Traditional Conference: Attitudes And Achievement Of Residents In Family Medicine, Yvonne Larocca Lewis
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to determine if the attitudes and/or achievement of family practice residents differed as they received instruction by two-way interactive compressed video or by the traditional conference method. The attitude survey, completed before and after the presentations were delivered, provided feedback from the residents in the experimental group on how they felt about the sessions. Pre- and post-test scores provided information about the achievement of residents and the possible difference between scores of those who received the presentations by two-way interactive compressed video as opposed to those taught by the traditional conference method. Results from …

Nutritional And Alimentative State Of The Canaviri, Pocohata, Colina Blanca, Puente Arriba And Villa Arriendo, Ingavi Province, Department Of La Paz - 1996, Juana F. Moraima Gonzles Tapia
Theses and Dissertations
The intent of the present work responds to the necessity of the settlers in depressed areas of La Paz's Altiplano in Bolivia of knowing the reality surrounding the unfolding of their lives. The focus takes into account only one part of all that weighs down on them: that part dealing with their nutritional and alimentative state. This study takes in the communities of Canaviri, Pocohata, Colina Blanca, Puente Arriba, and Villa Arriendo of the Ingavi Province in the Department of La Paz. The variable taken into account is the families' nutritional situation; these families possessing the same status in the …

Are There Cultural Differences In The Self-Report Of Symptoms Of Pms In Adolescents?: A Comparison Study Of Chippewa Native Americans And Caucasian Americans, Shelly M. Peltier
Theses and Dissertations
Subjects completed a series of questionnaires as a means to obtain symptoms experienced across three phases of the cycle (menstrual, premenstrual, and intermenstrual). The questionnaires completed included the Demographic Data Questionnaire, the Moos' Menstrual Distress Questionnaire, the Depression Adjective Check List (Forms A and D), the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (Forms Y-1 and Y-2), and Index Cards for two consecutive months. There were nintey-nine (99) subjects: forty-seven (47) Caucasian American adolescents and fifty-two (52) Chippewa Native American adolescents. Two subjects were dropped from this study, one from each group, due to the exclusion criteria established prior to data collection, leaving forty-six …

Kindergarten Curriculum, Kelly-Ann Grossman
Kindergarten Curriculum, Kelly-Ann Grossman
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this project was to develop a kindergarten curriculum suitable for a rural disadvantaged full-day kindergarten program. This was accomplished by a review of literature including five major theories of curriculum: the enrichment curriculum, the directed teaching curriculum, the cognitive emphasis curriculum, the custodial care curriculum and the combination curriculum. A combination curriculum was decided on and specific curriculums were reviewed for further content and design. Curriculums from nearby schools were reviewed and blended with the textbooks and areas of content felt necessary by the school's kindergarten teachers.
Does Learning Style Instruction Have A Positive Effect On Academic Achievement In The First Grade?, Nancy D. Rosenberg, Pamela M. Hernandez
Does Learning Style Instruction Have A Positive Effect On Academic Achievement In The First Grade?, Nancy D. Rosenberg, Pamela M. Hernandez
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of learning style instruction when implemented in a typical first grade classroom setting. The study was designed to determine if the use of several learning style methodologies would produce an increase in academic achievement.
Two regular first grade classes were used as the Study and Control Groups. Each student in the Study Group was surveyed to discover possible learning styles present within the group. For approximately six months, the Study Group received instruction which was modified, wherever possible, to allow for each student's individual needs. During this period, the Control …
Spontaneous Luteolysis In The Cyclic Golden Hamster: Evidence For Mediation Through Inflammation And Apoptosis, Mark W. Rodacker
Spontaneous Luteolysis In The Cyclic Golden Hamster: Evidence For Mediation Through Inflammation And Apoptosis, Mark W. Rodacker
Theses and Dissertations
Mammalian corpora lutea (CL) are transient ovarian glands which function to support pregnancy by secretion of progesterone (P). Sustained P secretion during pregnancy in the hamster requires gonadotrophic support, i.e., follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and prolactin (Prl). Infertile cycles require CL regression. In luteolysis, CL first regress functionally (FL) and then structurally (SL). FL permits the next estrous. Estrous occurs every fourth day in the hamster such that CL form, function briefly, and then regress rapidly and completely. With only one generation of CL present in each ovary at any one time, the hamster is an ideal model for studying …
Early Intervention Personnel Preparedness In Family-Centered Service Delivery: A Study Of Parent Perceptions., Kathy Riske Perrin
Early Intervention Personnel Preparedness In Family-Centered Service Delivery: A Study Of Parent Perceptions., Kathy Riske Perrin
Theses and Dissertations
The purposes of the study were to determine (a) perceptions of parents about the importance of the national Division for Early Childhood (DEC) family-centered competencies, (b) parent-perceived training needs of early intervention personnel in the area of family-centered services, and (c) the degree of relationship between family- centered competency items perceived by parents as important and items perceived by parents as needed areas of training for early intervention personnel. A three-part survey instrument which incorporated family-centered competence statements from the DEC Compilation of Professional Competencies for Early Intervention Personnel (1992) was used to gather information for this study. Resulting data …
Cellular Precursors Supporting Coronary Vessel Vasculogenesis In The Embryonic Quail Heart., Ann Marie Valder
Cellular Precursors Supporting Coronary Vessel Vasculogenesis In The Embryonic Quail Heart., Ann Marie Valder
Theses and Dissertations
Little is known concerning origins of vascular precursors and associated regulatory mechanisms involved in intramural coronary vessel vasculogenesis occurring in the subepicardial space of the embryonic vertebrate heart. This process appears to derive from reciprocal tissue interactions between the myocardium, dorsal mesocardium (DM) and continuous epicardium. Epicardial formation in the Japanese quail was investigated using scanning and transmission (TEM) electron microscopy, and light microscopy (LM). In situ indirect immunocytochemistry was utilized with monoclonal antibodies specific for cellular fibronectin, endothelial, and vascular smooth muscle precursors. The antibody QH1 (Peault et al., 1983) is specific for quail endothelial and hematopoietic cells, and …
