An Evaluation Of Instructional Television In The Brigham Young University College Of Religious Instruction, James Frank Killian
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to make an evaluation of Instructional Television in the College of Religious Instruction at the Brigham Young University.
The overall findings of the study indicate that there was much discontent manifest, from both students and faculty, with the present TV enrichment program. This discontent seemed to be strongest in the areas of the types of presentations made on TV, the quality of the productions, and that the TV presentations were required and not optional. The discontent was manifested by the fact that one third of the students did not attend half the TV enrichment …

An Ultrastructural Study Of Tubules, Vasculature And Interstitium In Human Renal Homografts, Marilyn Hatch
An Ultrastructural Study Of Tubules, Vasculature And Interstitium In Human Renal Homografts, Marilyn Hatch
Theses and Dissertations
In recent years renal homotransplantation has become more frequently used in the treatment of terminal renal disease in man. By carefully selecting donors with the aid of tissue compatibility tests and employing immunosuppressive drugs, these transplants have become increasingly more successful. It is true, however, that even with good tissue match-up and drug treatment rejection episodes occur, frequently within the first two-postsurgical weeks. The majority of these rejection crises may be reversed by increasing drug dosages and occasionally applying x-irradiation to the area of the transplant. In other cases rejection by the recipient is responsible for cessation of function of …
Mechanisms Of Drug Distribution In Rat Submaxillary Gland In Vitro, James W. Putney Jr.
Mechanisms Of Drug Distribution In Rat Submaxillary Gland In Vitro, James W. Putney Jr.
Theses and Dissertations
The access of drugs to variofis sites of action in the body is impeded by a succession of membranes. Likewise, the removal of a drug or foreign substance from the body is similarly dependent on the ability of the substance under consideration to permeate biological barriers. A con-committant problem generally arises concerning the overall time course of drug action: that of drug storage through binding or similar processes. Schanker (196h) however, has stated that "Although the mechanisms of localization and those of membrane transfer are in many respects different problems, there are some instances in which they are inseparable parts …
Review And Analysis Of The Nine Model Programs In Elementary Teacher Education With Synthesis For Application In Field Experiences, Wayne C. Erickson
Review And Analysis Of The Nine Model Programs In Elementary Teacher Education With Synthesis For Application In Field Experiences, Wayne C. Erickson
Theses and Dissertations
The Problem
This study had as its purpose the review and analysis of nine Models for elementary teacher education. These Models were Phase I of a USOE Elementary Teacher Education Project. Considerations for preliminary analysis for this study were to determine:
- 1. What were the Models' conceptions of a teacher?
- 2. What program content and curriculum strategies were proposed for preparing a teacher of this description?
- 3. In what ways did the Models provide for matching of training procedures with student character?
- 4. How did the Models accept the challenge of relating teacher education with the field?
- 5. To what …
3-Diazo-1,4-Diphenyl-4-Hydroxy-2-Butanone: Preparation And Reactions, Mohammed H. Khalil
3-Diazo-1,4-Diphenyl-4-Hydroxy-2-Butanone: Preparation And Reactions, Mohammed H. Khalil
Theses and Dissertations
The recent reports of intramolecular Aldol, Dieckman and alkyla- 16 21 tion reactions of diazomethyl ketones by Burkoth and Woolsey have demonstrated that under proper conditions diazomethyl ketones will undergo normal base-catalyzed reactions. Similar intermolecular condensation reactions of diazomethyl ketones, however, have apparently not been in-, vestigated .
The purpose of the present work was to investigate the possibility of intermolecular base-catalyzed alkylation and aldol-type condensations of diazomethyl ketones of the type RCH^COCHN^ . The reactions of the hydroxydiazo ketone adducts resulting from aldol condensation and which are generally not available, would also be of interest.
The initial work with …
A Pectin Histochemical Study Of The Host Pathogen Relationship Between Pyrenochaeta Terrestris And Allium Cepa, Leroy Richard Cobia
A Pectin Histochemical Study Of The Host Pathogen Relationship Between Pyrenochaeta Terrestris And Allium Cepa, Leroy Richard Cobia
Theses and Dissertations
The involvement of pectin and pectinases in the host pathogen interaction of P. terrestris and Allium cepa were investigated by use of pectin histochemical stains at the electron microscope level. Several different pectin histochemical stains were used, but only two (the hydroxylamine reaction, and the pectin stain developed in this study) gave reliable results. It was observed that by the time the fungus has reached the host cell wall pectinesterase and endoplygalacturonase have fully removed the pectin from the host cell wall. When this has occurred, cellulases are released which continue to degrade the host cell wall. Electron transparent areas …

Theses and Dissertations
The intent of this paper was to examine some of the attitudes and actions of the North Dakota clergymen toward politics and specific political issues. The specific political actions which were studied were voting behavior, participation in protest marches and demonstrations, and active campaigning for a political candidate or party. The attitudes which were studied were with regard to the rating of the Supreme Court of the United States, pari-mutual betting in North Dakota, following laws which one considered to be morally wrong, conscientious objection to specific wars, and the use of the pulpit for statements of personal political beliefs. …
The Aesthetic And Technical Problems In Designing And Mounting The Tingalary Bird: A Production Design Thesis, James Beal Lutz
The Aesthetic And Technical Problems In Designing And Mounting The Tingalary Bird: A Production Design Thesis, James Beal Lutz
Theses and Dissertations
This thesis documents the designing and mounting of the children's play, The Tingalary Bird. Designing included the set, properties and furniture, costume, make-up, lighting, and sound. A stylized concept was followed throughout the entire production. A bird cage set, furniture, and properties were built with function, mobility, color, and shape as the primary design elements. Costumes, built from day-glow colored fabric and make-up characterizing doll-like features were coordinated for an overall stylized effect. Lighting, including ultraviolet light, and tape-recorded sound, ranging from pipe organ to acid rock which periodically added a definite mood and emphasis to the plot, accentuated the …
Effects Of Ionizing Radiations On Mite Populations At The Nevada Test Site, Richard Riddle Walker
Effects Of Ionizing Radiations On Mite Populations At The Nevada Test Site, Richard Riddle Walker
Theses and Dissertations
Population and community studies dealing with radiation stress have essentially neglected the mites. When references have been made to the responses of mite populations to ionizing radiation, the form of radiation has almost always been gamma. This study reports results of naturally occurring populations of desert mites, at the Nevada Test Site, to ionizing radiation--largely beta. Eighteen species groups were identified from Berlese samples and tested for stress responses with species diversity indices and analyses of variations in predator-prey ratios. General agreement with previous studies showed a decreasing pattern in these two tests within the controls. This was interpreted as …
