Using Network Warfare Simulation (NETWARS), three different missions were simulated to run on five network topologies having a different number of participants, different assigned time slots, and stacked nets. …
Comparative Analysis Of Active And Passive Mapping Techniques In An Internet-Based Local Area Network, James B. Kuntzelman
Comparative Analysis Of Active And Passive Mapping Techniques In An Internet-Based Local Area Network, James B. Kuntzelman
Theses and Dissertations
Network mapping technologies allow quick and easy discovery of computer systems throughout a network. Active mapping methods, such as using nmap, capitalize on the standard stimulus-response of network systems to probe target systems. In doing so, they create extra traffic on the network, both for the initial probe and for the target system's response. Passive mapping methods work opportunistically, listening for network traffic as it transits the system. As such, passive methods generate minimal network traffic overhead. Active methods are still standard methods for network information gathering; passive techniques are not normally used due to the possibility of missing important …
Comparative Functional Analysis Of Air Force And Commercially Available Transportation Information Management Systems, Patrick S. Holland
Comparative Functional Analysis Of Air Force And Commercially Available Transportation Information Management Systems, Patrick S. Holland
Theses and Dissertations
The Air Force currently relies on two transportation information management systems for managing cargo and passenger movements throughout the Defense Transportation System. The two systems are Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES) and Cargo Movement Operations System (CMOS). Organic acid and inorganic anion concentrations were evaluated in …
Modeling A Field Application Of In Situ Bioremediation Of Perchlorate-Contaminated Groundwater Using Horizontal Flow Treatment Wells (Hftws), Peter G. Chosa
Modeling A Field Application Of In Situ Bioremediation Of Perchlorate-Contaminated Groundwater Using Horizontal Flow Treatment Wells (Hftws), Peter G. Chosa
Theses and Dissertations
Perchlorate contaminated groundwater is rapidly becoming a significant environmental remediation issue for the Department of Defense. In this study, an existing numerical model that simulates the operation of a Horizontal Flow Treatment Well (HFTW) system to effect the in situ biodegradation of perchlorate through the addition of an electron donor is modified to include a submodel that describes bioclogging. Bioclogging restricts flow out of the HFTW due to the accumulation of biomass directly adjacent to the well. The modified model is then applied to an existing perchlorate contaminated site that will be used for an evaluation of the HFTW technology. …

The focus of this study was to determine the effectiveness of using a palladium (Pd) catalyst with formate as a reductant to treat CAH-contaminated groundwater. TCE was used as a model CAH. Other investigators have focused on hydrogen gas (H2) …
Comparative Analysis On The Cost Of Oversight For The New National Security Space Acquisition Policy- A Delphi Method Approach, Darrin L. Dereus
Comparative Analysis On The Cost Of Oversight For The New National Security Space Acquisition Policy- A Delphi Method Approach, Darrin L. Dereus
Theses and Dissertations
For the past 50 years, the military's use of space for our national defense has increased exponentially. The use of space has increased so much that recent events have led to the approval for most space Major Defense Acquisition Programs to fall under their own process of oversight to track and monitor these programs. The largest reason for this change is due to the difference in spending profiles and current acquisition regulations that are not structured to meet these space expenditure plans. The key problem is no one knows, for sure, how much the oversight process actually costs and if …

Studies In Multiple-Antenna Wireless Communications, Christian Bruce Peel
Studies In Multiple-Antenna Wireless Communications, Christian Bruce Peel
Theses and Dissertations
Wireless communications systems are used today in a variety of milieux, with a recurring theme: users and applications regularly require higher throughput. Multiple antennas enable higher throughput and/or more robust performance than single-antenna communications, with no increase in power or frequency bandwidth. Systems are required which achieve the full potential of this "space-time" communication channel under the significant challenges of time-varying fading, multiple users, and the choice of appropriate coding schemes. This dissertation is focused on solutions to these problems. For the single-user case, there are many well-known coding techniques available; in the first part of this dissertation, the performance …
Derivation Of Moving-Coil Loudspeaker Parameters Using Plane Wave Tube Techniques, Brian Eric Anderson
Derivation Of Moving-Coil Loudspeaker Parameters Using Plane Wave Tube Techniques, Brian Eric Anderson
Theses and Dissertations
Small-signal moving-coil loudspeaker driver parameters are traditionally derived through electrical impedance measurement techniques. These parameters are commonly called Thiele/Small parameters, after Neville Thiele and Richard Small who are credited with developing industry-standard loudspeaker modeling techniques. However, because loudspeaker drivers are electro-mechano-acoustical transducers, it should be possible to measure their parameters in physical domains other than the electrical domain. A method of measuring loudspeaker parameters from the acoustical domain will be developed. The technique uses a plane wave tube to measure acoustical properties of a baffled driver under test. Quantities such as the transmission loss through the driver are measured for …
