A survey of the chemical literature revealed a lack of agreement in the values reported by various investigators for the solubility product constants of the metallic sulfides. The object of this thesis was to obtain a reliable set of solubility product constant values for the metallic sulfides by means of thermodynamic calculations. Of considerable importance in calculating the values of the solubility product constants of the metallic sulfides is the value of the standard free energy of formation of the sulfide ion. The purpose of this study is to make readily available, in helpful form all information possible on leadership, facilities, and equipment in men's physical education in North Dakota schools. It was originally planned that this should be a study of women's physical education as well as men's, but inasmuch as the questionnaires were sent to men instructors, not much information concerning the women's program was reported. The name of Karl G. Maeser will long be remembered among the people of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because of his influence on the present system of education within the church. An Electrochemical Determination Of The Free Energy Of Formation And Solubility Product Constant Of Silver And Mercury Sulfides, Earl Lloyd Gray

Because present data on free energy of formation and solubility product constants of the metal sulfides are both inconsistent and based on very old experimental data, a new study using modern techniques is amply justified. Because metal sulfide precipitates are often colloidal and becasue the solubility of these sulfides is so low, ordinary physical and analytical methods are not applicable to a direct determination fo the solubility product constant. Therefore, a more reliable thermodynamic approach was undertaken in this study. The standard free energy of formation of silver and mercury sulfide was determined from electromotive force measurements of suitable galvanic …
