Effects Of Winning And Losing On The Interaction Pattern Of Group Partners, Jarell F. Killian
Effects Of Winning And Losing On The Interaction Pattern Of Group Partners, Jarell F. Killian
Theses and Dissertations
Of special interest in the field of social psychology are the differences among groups in their functioning that distinguishes them from one another. Cartwright and Zander (1960) speak of this in pointing out that some groups work together with a great deal more success, satisfaction, and with a greater sense of togetherness than others. Some groups are racked with dissent, insouciance, and such a failure to meet goals and standards as to result in a slow death of inactivity. These differences persist even under basically identical circumstances. Concerning this point, Pepitone and Kleiner (1957, p. 192) state:

A Follow-Up Study Of Fifty-Two Richmond Public School Pupils Given Psychiatric Staffing During The 1966-1967 School Year, David F. Hopkins, James A. Ryan, Sandra Laverne Wright
A Follow-Up Study Of Fifty-Two Richmond Public School Pupils Given Psychiatric Staffing During The 1966-1967 School Year, David F. Hopkins, James A. Ryan, Sandra Laverne Wright
Theses and Dissertations
This research study is a descriptive study of the effectiveness of the psychiatric staffing as determined by a follow-up study of fifty-two Richmond Public School Pupils given such staffing during the l966-67 school year. The review of pertinent literature reveals what others have contributed to the knowledge of the nature and function of the school helping team. The teamwork approach, which involves the efforts of several professions and disciplines working closely together, is seen as the best present method to meet the complex, overlapping needs which have been found to affect students' learning.
As a means of establishing guidelines and …
Mechanical Effects Of Acoustic Transients On Tobacco Mosaic Virus, Philip Edward Hamrick
Mechanical Effects Of Acoustic Transients On Tobacco Mosaic Virus, Philip Edward Hamrick
Theses and Dissertations
The mechanical breakage of tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) due to the action of acoustic transients has been investigated. The acoustic transients were produced by transient heating of a Prussian blue dye solution (attenuation coefficient of 1000 per cm) when a ruby laser light (20 x 106 watts) was incident on the dye surface. A quartz piezoelectric transducer was used to determine the amplitude and form of the acoustic wave. The production of acoustic waves by transient heating is discussed, and the theoretical form of the acoustic wave determined for various boundary and initial conditions are compared to the experimentally …
A Study Of The Cultural And Religious Behavior Of The Navaho Indians Which Caused Animosity, Resistance, Or Indifference To The Religious Teachings Of The Latter-Day Saints, James D. Mathews
Theses and Dissertations

Thousands of Navaho youth have been enrolled in the Indian seminary program of the Church. Hundreds of other students have been involved in the Indian student placement program and the Brigham Young University Indian education program. Furthermore, the Church has contacted much of the population of the …

Installation And Uses Of Pension Plans In Today's Businesses, David Loer
Theses and Dissertations
The title of this study, Installations and Uses of Pension Plans in Today's Businesses, describes the content quite well. It explains to the common businessman how he can set up and use a pension plan for his business. Many employers know relatively little about this type of fringe be nefit they could provide for their employees. Many factors are important in setting up a pension plan. For example, the employer should know the benefits his plan should provide; also he should be aware of the factors affecting the cost of the plan. He should know the advantages of having the …

A Comparison Of The Physical Fitness Levels Attained By Participants In Interscholastic Athletes And In The Required Physical Education Program, Carl E. Hasche
A Comparison Of The Physical Fitness Levels Attained By Participants In Interscholastic Athletes And In The Required Physical Education Program, Carl E. Hasche
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to show the improvements in physical fitness levels between two experimental groups. Experimental Group I consisted of twenty-one athletes and Experimental Group II consisted of twenty-six students in the required physical education program. Intra and inter group comparisons were made from the data collected from a special eight-item physical fitness test.
The null hypothesis was assumed with respect to the difference between the means of both groups. The hypothesis was tested with the "t" technique for checking significance of difference between means, and the F technique for determining the significance of the difference among …
A Comparison Of The Effects Of Weight Control And Reduction Of High School Wrestlers On Selected Measurements Of Strength, John R. Oxton

Inter-group and intra-group comparisons of results were made between the control group consisting of seven high school wrestlers and the experimental group of seven high school wrestlers who experienced a weight loss of more …
The Development Of Basement Membranes Associated With Vascular Invasion Of The Brain In The Chick Embryo, Richard G. Peterson
The Development Of Basement Membranes Associated With Vascular Invasion Of The Brain In The Chick Embryo, Richard G. Peterson
Theses and Dissertations
Since a basement membrane is present on all blood vessels and also on all tissues of ectodermal origin, the blood vessels of the central nervous system should have two basement membranes, one related to the blood vessel, the other related to the nervous tissue. Also, the tissue space usually bordering on the basement membranes should in the central nervous system separate the two. In the adult brain and spinal cord, however, only one basement membrane and no tissue space surround the blood vessels of the central nervous system. This study, therefore, has been concerned with the embryonic development of blood …

Metazoan Parasites Of The Muskrat, Ondatra Zibethica Cinnamominus, From The English Coulee Grand Forks County, North Dakota, David A. Boyd Iv
Theses and Dissertations
During the fall of 1966 and the spring of 1967, 55 muskrats were trapped along the reaches of the English Coulee, Grand Forks County, North Dakota. These muskrats were necropsied and all ectoparasites and endoparasites collected. The parasites were stained and identified and the number of worms counted to discern the parasite burden.
Eight species of parasites were found. The only ectoparasite encountered was Laelaps multispinosus (89.09 per cent incidence). Four species of trematodes were identified as Echinostoma revolutum (34.54 per cent), Quinqueserialis quinqueserialis (47.27 per cent), Notocotylus urbanensis (41.81 per cent), and Plagiorchis proximus (14.54 per cent). Two species …
