Romance Of Leadership As A Leader Emergence Predictor, Troy A. Cerny

The purpose of this paper is to examine whether a link between romance of leadership and leader emergence exists. To test this proposition, a sample population was drawn from a military leadership development program for senior enlisted personnel. The school's 406 students were broken into 28 separate groupings called "flights", each led by an instructor. The data for this study was obtained by administering the Romance of Leadership Scale (RLS) and observing leader emergence within the individual flights over a six-week period. A Study Of Nonverbal Communication And Leadership Emergence In Task-Oriented And Informal Small Groups, Arline F. Schubert

This study was designed to investigate the nonverbal cues exhibited by participants in informal and task-oriented groups. The following hypotheses were examined: 1) Leaders exhibit significantly more nonverbal cues than do nonleaders in task-oriented and informal small groups; 2) Members of a task-oriented small group will exhibit significantly more nonverbal cues than members of the informal small group; 3) An interaction effect will occur with leaders of the task- oriented groups exhibiting significantly more nonverbal cues than leaders of the informal groups.
