Implementation Of Medical Imaging With Telemedicine For The Early Detection And Diagnoses Of Breast Cancer To Women In Remote Areas, Alphonsine Imaniraguha
Theses
Nowadays, the cancer topic has become a global concern. Furthermore, breast cancer persists to be the top leading cause of death to women population and the second cause of cancer death after the lung cancer globally. Various technologies and techniques have been searched, developed and studied over the years to detect the disease at the early stage; the early diagnosis saves many lives in both developed and developing countries. The detection of cancer through a screening process before its symptoms emerge increases the survival rate dramatically (Li, Meaney and Paulsen). Moreover, sufficient knowledge of the disease, qualified staff, accurate, appropriate …
Counting Points On Elliptic Curves Over Zp, Suresh Sundriyal
Counting Points On Elliptic Curves Over Zp, Suresh Sundriyal
Theses
The mathematics of elliptic curves has been studied since ancient times. These mathematical structures have found applications in varied fields. More recently, there has been a growing interest in applying these structures to cryptography. Various such applications have been proposed. Elliptic curve based cryptographic algorithms have been shown to provide greater security with shorter key sizes than the conventional RSA based cryptosystems, making them more memory e cient and less processor intensive. One of the fundamental requirements of all such elliptic curve cryptographic algorithms is that the order of the group of points satisfying the elliptic curve meet a certain …
Elliptic Curve Cryptography: Generation And Validation Of Domain Parameters In Binary Galois Fields, Peter Wozny
Elliptic Curve Cryptography: Generation And Validation Of Domain Parameters In Binary Galois Fields, Peter Wozny
Theses
Elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) is an increasingly popular method for securing many forms of data and communication via public key encryption. The algorithm utilizes key parameters, referred to as the domain parameters. These parameters must adhere to specific characteristics in order to be valid for use in the algorithm. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), in ANSI X9.62, provides the process for generating and validating these parameters. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has identified fifteen sets of parameters; five for prime fields, five for binary fields, and five for Koblitz curves. The parameter generation and validation processes …

Model Evaluation And Measurement Optimization For The Reproduction Of Artist Paint Surfaces Through Computer Graphics Renderings, Ying Chen
Theses
Light reflection models for computer graphics have been developed over the past several decades. For real paint surfaces, it is possible to model their bidirectional reflectance distribution function with simple models. A framework was established to evaluate two simple reflection models, Phong and Torrance-Sparrow, which were used to render artist paint surfaces under different illumination angles. An image acquisition system was devised to capture the images under selected illuminated angles. The parameters of the specular and the diffuse components were estimated with these image sequences. At the evaluation stage, both physicallybased metrics and psychophysical techniques were used to evaluate the …

Perceptions Of Advertising In Online Social Networks: In-Depth Interviews, Zeljka Hadija
Theses
Advertising in online social networks is a major unexplored advertising area. However, interactivity on the Internet shifts the ways in which users perceive advertising, and whether they perceive it at all. This research study focuses on college students, users of online social networks, as main sources of information that helps advertisers understand the ways in which advertisements are perceived online. Through the personal in-depth interviews, using Zaltman Metaphor Elicitation Technique, it has been revealed that only 20% of online social network users notice advertisements while using online social networks. The content found in online social networks inhibits viewing advertisements. This …
Hidden Structure Revealed, Minkyu Lee
Hidden Structure Revealed, Minkyu Lee
Theses
This MFA Thesis is based on the aesthetic philosophy that all forms and structures are essentially made from cubes. This premise has inspired and shaped my explorations over the last two years of graduate study. Shape and meaning of ‘cubes’ can be simplified to the smallest molecular units of objects. The geometric forms I construct reflect this. I have mostly created vessel-oriented forms, but now I find that I can also make sculptures that reflect the same point of view. The shape of the earth is a theme and inspiration for this thesis project. Craters, which show their inner side, …
The Manufactured Experience, Debra Ruzinsky
The Manufactured Experience, Debra Ruzinsky
Theses
Repeatedly what I see around me are places and messages that generate manufactured experiences, manipulated by someone with an agenda to promote. My thesis work, entitled "Sweet Reassurance," is a personal approach to re-invention; a conceptually driven body of work that explores my obsession with irony, a need to vent frustration with public policy, complacency, and misguided priorities. The work springs from a notion to create proposals for architectural projects that are rather absurd and could never really be realized. They are my brand of visionary architecture, existing somewhere between the Utopian and the Dystopian. I have developed a vocabulary …

Experimental Investigation On The Effects Of Surface Roughness On Microscale Liquid Flow, Tim Brackbill
Experimental Investigation On The Effects Of Surface Roughness On Microscale Liquid Flow, Tim Brackbill
Theses
Microfluidics has become of interest recently with shrinking device sizes. Roughness structures left from machining processes on the inside of tubes and channels that were once not a concern may now create relative roughness that exceeds 5%. Confusion still exists in the literature as to the extent of the effects of roughness on laminar flow. This work aims to experimentally examine the effects of different roughness structures on internal flows in high aspect ratio rectangular microchannels. A total of four test sections were fabricated to test samples with different patterned rough surfaces, and to also vary the two opposite surfaces …
