Ferroelectric Field-Effect Transistors In Analog Applications: Demonstrated In Time-Domain Neuromorphic Computing Cells, Jacob O'Donnell

In response to diminishing improvements from transistor scaling, the semiconductor field has shifted its focus to architectural innovation and emerging device technologies. Ferroelectric field-effect transistors (FeFETs) are non-volatile memory elements which offer new opportunities for energy-efficient computing, particularly in compute-in-memory (CIM) architectures. This thesis presents a novel FeFET-based computing cell integrated into a time-domain (TD) computing architecture. The proposed design is evaluated using a device model derived from experimental data and compared with competing non-volatile memory implementations. Results demonstrate improvements in area efficiency and performance, highlighting the potential of the FeFET cell for next-generation TD-CIM systems.

This study investigates the readiness for transforming rule-based chatbots to AI-based chatbots in UAE healthcare, examining a rehabilitation hospital in Abu Dhabi through quantitative research involving healthcare professionals (N=96) and technical analysis. Findings revealed positive perceptions of the current system alongside enhancement opportunities through AI capabilities, with perceived usefulness strongly correlating with behavioural intention, high service quality ratings for empathy and responsiveness, midcareer professionals demonstrating the highest AI acceptance levels, and system integration identified as the highest priority implementation area.

School Leadership Insights And Practices: Understanding Bullying Prevention Strategies Among Teachers In Private And Public Schools Across The Uae, Wissal Mohsen

This thesis investigates the detrimental effects of bullying on students, including its impacts on mental health, academic performance, and overall well-being. Addressing this issue necessitates a proactive strategy involving school leaders, teachers, and parents. Data was collected via a questionnaire: selected items employed a 5-point Likert scale, while others used a multiple-choice format. Analysis was conducted in SPSS and included descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, t-tests, and binary logistic regression. The t-tests indicated that leadership practices implemented to prevent bullying in both public and private schools were highly effective and statistically significant (p < .05). This research contributes to our understanding of how school leadership and teacher involvement influence the efficacy of bullying-prevention strategies. By using quantitative methods, the study offers a comprehensive examination of school policies, bullying-awareness initiatives, and reporting systems. The findings highlight the importance of adopting context-specific approaches to bolster prevention efforts within schools. Future research that combines qualitative and quantitative analyses may yield deeper insights into the real-world challenges encountered in bullying-intervention strategies, thereby bridging the gap between policy formulation and practical implementation to ensure anti-bullying programs are both effective and culturally relevant.

Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPRs) can effectively mitigate the negative impacts of salt stress on plants. The present study reports the isolation of PGPRs from a high-saline mangrove ecosystem in Abu Dhabi, with isolates exhibiting ACC deaminase (ACCD) activity to reduce stress-induced ethylene, along with additional plant growth-promoting (PGP) characteristics, including phosphate solubilization (P+). A total of 57 salt-tolerant bacterial isolates from the mangrove rhizosphere were initially screened for ACCD and P+ activities. The emergence of machine learning (ML) in healthcare has unlocked the transformative potential of pain detection and assessment. By providing new ways to address the challenges associated with subjective and inconsistent pain assessment methods. This review synthesizes recent advancements in ML-based approaches for pain detection, focusing on algorithms, modalities, and datasets. Techniques such as neural networks, transformer models, and multimodal fusion frameworks have demonstrated significant promise in identifying pain from diverse sources, including facial expressions, physiological signals, and synthetic datasets.
