A Comparison Of Two Computer Graphic Systems, Andrew L. Mayer
Mythography, Christopher Losee
Mythography, Christopher Losee
Theses
Although it was written over a year before this section, the thesis proposal which appends this report still serves as a good introduction to my ideas on myth in general , and in particular to my way of thinking when I began this inquiry into the photographic representation of myth. In exploring the visual and artistic dimensions of myth, I found that my thoughts and feelings on the subject changed vastly as the work progressed; however, the end result of this process of exploration has led me back to the beginnings of the work and allowed me, as T,S. Eliot …

Diversion Of Force, Linda J. Moughemer
Theses
I intend to complete a body of work using the concept of diversion of force as a departure point. A paper which will include the organic and inorganic scientific references which have affected my thinking and visual imagery will accompany and support the studio work. Other sources which have aided my exploration of the subject will also appear in the written presentation.

To The Best Of My Abilities, Barry Warren Kaiser
Theses
The basic intention of my work is to visually represent concepts through juxtaposed images. The concepts I represent may be elementary, but this does not limit the relationships between images, which may be highly complex. The inspiration for the linkage between images commences intellectually, but because I wish to create unique, and visually appealing pieces, I also deal with the evocative qualities of these juxtapositions.

A Comparison Of The Perception Of Juxtaposed Tones In Newspaper Images When Screened With Conventional And Random Dot Screens, Sylvia Monteiro
A Comparison Of The Perception Of Juxtaposed Tones In Newspaper Images When Screened With Conventional And Random Dot Screens, Sylvia Monteiro
Theses
The halftone process has been the conventional means of reproducing photographic artwork on newsprint. The use of relatively coarse screen rulings, dictated by the paper characteristics, produces an image with a noticeable dot pattern. Furthermore, the printing process is susceptible to extreme dot gain variation, which affects tone reproduction and the pictorial communication of the image. There were good reasons to suspect that a random dot screen could give more consistent tone rendition than a conventional halftone screen. A comparative study of the consistency of perception of conventional and randomly screened images when printed on newsprint has not yet been …

An Investigation Into The Effects Of Dry Etching Techniques On Changing Halftone Dot-Sizes, Anthony P. Stanton
An Investigation Into The Effects Of Dry Etching Techniques On Changing Halftone Dot-Sizes, Anthony P. Stanton
Theses
The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of dry etching techniques on changing halftone dotsizes. Dry etching, or photographic color correction, has emerged in recent years as an alternative to traditional dot etching for making local corrections to color separation halftones. This study examines six factors related to dry etching. First, three types of original halftone dots were considered: laser formed (hard) dots from a Hell DC-300B scanner, laser formed (semi-hard) dots from a P.D.I, scanner, and contact screen (soft) dots from a Crosfield 510 Magnascan scanner. Second, the original dot-sizes being treated were fixed as close …
