The Impact That An Aging American Population Has On Financial Institutions, Jerry M. Bladdick
Theses
This thesis will focus on the study of America's aging population and the impact this population has upon financial institutions and the services and products these institutions provide.
Research has shown that real estate and cash are the primary sources of wealth for the majority of older adults. Banking institutions realize that with the ever-increasing size of this _population. special programs, incentives, and services may need to be provided in order to maintain the loyalty of older clients.
In recent years, financial institutions have hired management consulting firms to confirm that the older banking consumer of the 1990s will dramatically …
A Family Study Of The Patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac, And Jacob, Yvonne A. Rosen
A Family Study Of The Patriarchs: Abraham, Isaac, And Jacob, Yvonne A. Rosen
Theses
Outstanding among recurrent, connected themes revolving around the issue of the Blessing for the Patriarchal succession are the complementary rival roles of sons, modeled on the mythical motif of Cain and Abel; the favoring of the younger son; the barrenness of the Matriarchs; and the conflicted nature of marital relationships in a patriarchal system that included matriarchal elements tending to social equality alongside the institution of concubinage with its fundamental psycho-sexual Inequality. Abandonment of primogeniture paralleled separation from polytheistic culture; and the personalities of the Patriarchs constituted !deal types toward which the emergent community moved. Roles were assigned and maintained …
An Investigation Into The Validity Of John Holland's Theory Of Vocational Choice And The Accuracy Of His Self-Directed Search Model As A Means Of Career Guidance, Paula Sandbothe-Swope
An Investigation Into The Validity Of John Holland's Theory Of Vocational Choice And The Accuracy Of His Self-Directed Search Model As A Means Of Career Guidance, Paula Sandbothe-Swope
Theses
This study tested two hypotheses derived from John L. Holland's theory of vocational choice. The first hypothesis was that there should be some correlation between congruence, as measured by Holland's Self-Directed Search instrument, and an individual's expressed job satisfaction. The second hypothesis was that individuals will tend to seek out congruent occupations over time. The Self-Directed Search instrument was administered to 112 individuals working in a variety of occupations in order to measure job congruency. A questionnaire relating to job tenure and job satisfaction was also given to each individual. The information garnered from the SDS and the questionnaire was …
A Proposed New National Health Care Plan, Larry W. Pruett
A Proposed New National Health Care Plan, Larry W. Pruett
Theses
Larry W. Pruett’s 1993 thesis, A Proposed New National Health Care Plan, explores the need for comprehensive reform of the U.S. health care system and outlines a detailed alternative model. Frustrated by inefficiencies, escalating costs, and limited access, Pruett evaluates the systems of Canada, Germany, and Japan, rating them on technology, public health, service, efficiency, and equity. He also reviews reform proposals from President Clinton, the American Medical Association, and the American Hospital Association.
Pruett’s plan shifts the primary point of care from hospitals to outpatient clinics, which would provide most non-emergency health services. Hospitals would retain a role …
The Changing Work Environment: A Challenge For Corporate America, Angela D. Hamilton
The Changing Work Environment: A Challenge For Corporate America, Angela D. Hamilton
Theses
This thesis will focus on the study of change in the work environment, and the impact change has on American corporations and workers. Predictions foretold a changing workplace, workforce, and global economy. As a result, there are specific challenges to corporations, workers, and the country.
Research has attributed the lack of worker training and development to a decline in the importance of training. Most human resources planning in American corporations has played second fiddle to other business decisions; judgments are made and human resources follow. So it becomes necessary to focus more clearly on the American business environment and the …

An Intelligent Tutoring System For The German Language, Kenneth E. Staffan
Theses
This thesis report describes the design and implementation of a prototype Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS), intended to assist students of the German language. Very early in the study of a foreign language, the student is faced with the difficulties of sentence construction. Not only are there numerous rules and combination to deal with, but it is difficult to verify attempts when the teacher is unavailable. Individual words can be looked up in a dictionary, but the student must often rely on stumbling across a sentence of similar construction in order to verify a trial sentence. A variety of Computer-Assisted Language …

The research situates these ceramics within the broader cultural and philosophical ideals of the …
Design And Fabrication Of An Air-Bridge Microphone, Paul L. Jeran
Design And Fabrication Of An Air-Bridge Microphone, Paul L. Jeran
Theses
Today's hearing aids have many shortcomings: they are susceptible to environmental damage, cannot be worn while sleeping or in wet environments, are obtrusive and are expensive. New technologies are being developed which allow most all of these shortcomings to be addressed by placing a portion of the hearing aid within the middle ear. These new technologies require size reductions in several of the aid components, one of these being the microphone. Microelectromechanical Systems (MEMS) has already developed technologies that can be used to construct these microphones. Most microphones constructed using MEMS techniques employ a dual wafer design. the microphone membrane …
Slow, Red-Green Counterphase (Parvo) And Fast, Black-White Magno) Snow In The Detection Of Scotomata In Primary Open-Angle Glaucoma, Rey Favis
Theses
No one knows why Primary Open Angle Glaucoma sufferers can detect their glaucoma induced blindspots by monocularly fixating on a mark in the center of a screen of television snow. An attempt was made to determine which of two pathways from retina to lateral geniculate nucleus is more involved in the detection of the blindspots. Previous studies demonstrated that the large diameter axon, magno cellular pathway is maximally stimulated by 30 Hertz high contrast black-white patterns. The small diameter axon, parvo cellular pathway is known from past research to be maximally stimulated by 12 Hertz red-green counterphase patterns. It was …

Red And Green Make Yellow: An Interactive Multimedia Tutorial Designed To Teach The Basic Concepts Of Additive And Subtractive Color, Suzanne Grinnan
Theses
The division between designers and printers is becoming increasingly blurred as the capabilities of the desktop environment improve. Electronic imaging is one area where this disintegration is rapidly occurring. Abilities that were formerly the domain of the color separator, image assembler, and printer, such as scanning, color correction, and film separation, are available through many popular software programs. Unfortunately, the education required to allow the proper application of these software options is not as accessible as the tools themselves. Both printers and graphic designers will have to educate themselves about the emerging and changing technologies of the other. Eventually a …
