Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) increasingly involves older and medically complex patients, in whom impaired pulmonary function and high comorbidity burden adversely affect survival and long-term outcomes. Rehabilitation and exercise interventions are biologically plausible strategies to mitigate deconditioning along the transplant trajectory, but their role in allo-HSCT has not been systematically organized within a phase-specific clinical framework. A systematic review of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was conducted according to Cochrane guidance and PRISMA 2020, with prospective registration in PROSPERO. PubMed, Embase, PEDro, Web of Science, CENTRAL and Scopus were searched from inception to early 2025, with an updated PubMed …

Sarcopenia and obesity, characterised respectively by reduced muscle mass and function and increased adiposity, may co-occur as sarcopenic obesity (SO). This systematic review summarises cohort evidence linking these body composition phenotypes to dementia risk. MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane Database and PsycINFO were searched from inception to February 2026. Outcomes included incident all-cause dementia (ACD) and subtypes. Pooled hazard ratios were calculated for each phenotype using random-effects models. Fourteen publications were included for sarcopenia, 72 for obesity, and four for SO. Late-life obesity (≥65 years) was protective for ACD (HR 0.83, 95% CI 0.76–0.89), whereas mid-life obesity (<65 years) modestly increased risk (HR 1.09, 95% CI 1.01–1.16). Sarcopenia was associated with increased risk (HR 1.42, 95% CI 1.26–1.58). SO showed no significant association (HR 1.43, 95% CI 0.87–1.99). These findings highlight age-dependent effects of obesity and an elevated dementia risk with sarcopenia; the predictive role of SO requires further research.

Research outputs 2022 to 2026
Purpose: The protracted COVID-19 crisis placed substantial demands on managers in the Australian resources industry. While workers' wellbeing received increased attention during this period, much less is known about how managers sustained their own wellbeing while providing care, reassurance, and operational continuity. Drawing on the JD–R model, paradox theory, and moral strain perspectives, we examine wellbeing-oriented leadership during a sustained crisis. We focus on how leadership behaviour operated as both a resource for employees and a demand on managers, shaping their own wellbeing experiences and leadership identity.
Design/methodology/approach: An interpretative phenomenological approach (IPA) was employed. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with …

A Universal Hybrid Model-Free Deep Quantum–Transfer Learning Controller Enhanced By Grey Wolf Optimization For Dc–Dc Boost Converters With Hardware-In-Loop Validation, Seyyed Morteza Ghamari, Asma Aziz
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
This paper proposes a universal hybrid model-free quantum–transfer learning controller with enhanced online grey wolf optimization algorithm (GWO–QTL) for DC–DC boost converter. This system has the characteristics of non-minimum phase behavior, parasitic effects, and fractional-order dynamics because of high frequency operation. These characteristics make analytical modeling complicated and make it difficult to have a single traditional controller that will operate reliably over different converter types. This motivates the creation of a unified model-free control framework that is able to learn directly from the behavior of the converter without relying on the topology specific models. Reinforcement learning, where an agent interacts …

Research outputs 2022 to 2026
Work passion is a critical driver of employee wellbeing, engagement, and performance; however, organisations often struggle to cultivate it effectively. Understanding what fosters work passion is essential because it not only deepens insight into employee motivation but also enables organisations to enhance passion and its positive outcomes. Despite growing interest, research has primarily focused on individual traits, leaving the role of organisational and leadership factors under-explored. To bridge this gap, we extend the Employee Work Passion Appraisal (EWPA) framework by examining how inclusive leadership and meaningful work influence employees’ work passion and whether the psychological authenticity climate mediates these relationships. …

Additive manufacturing of biomedical high-entropy alloys (BioHEAs) demands a combination of low elastic modulus, high strength, and damage tolerance, yet composition discovery remains largely empirical. Here, we establish a machine-learning framework that couples virtual screening with physical prototyping to link composition, deformation mechanism, and properties. Ensemble models for strength, elongation, and modulus were applied to screen Ti–Zr–Nb–Ta–Mo-centered quinary-to-septenary spaces (∼15 million compositions), revealing discrete performance islands anchored by a Ti–Zr backbone. A Zr-rich BCC alloy (Zr₃₉.₃Ti₁₉.₅Nb₁₇.₉Ta₁₆.₈Mo₆.₅) was identified and validated. This paper presents the Multi-Objective Reptile Search algorithm for identifying ideal rating and location of distributed generation in unbalanced grids, focusing on minimizing power losses, total costs, and carbon emissions. The proposed methodology integrates DIgSILENT PowerFactory and Python platforms to evaluate unbalanced IEEE distribution feeders under varying power factor conditions. The results demonstrate that optimal DG configurations involve strategically positioning multiple units to enable both active and reactive power injection, significantly improving overall system performance across multiple objectives and voltage deviation index. The analysis identifies an optimal PF range between 0.75 and 0.89, with unity power factor operations yielding suboptimal …

Most patients with End Stage Kidney Failure (ESKF) in Pakistan must undergo maintenance haemodialysis (HD) to survive. Session duration and the often lifelong nature of this treatment, along with other factors associated with HD, make it difficult to tolerate. This study took a positive psychological perspective and considered that HD sessions’ duration, which has been a major challenge for HD patients, can be turned to an opportunity for patients’ meaningful engagement. Such meaningful engagement can positively transform Pakistani patients’ experience of HD and extend into their lives outside HD. Twenty-four HD patients and six healthcare professionals were interviewed to explore …
