"A textural analysis was made of the heavy oil-bearing sandstones in the Middle Pennsylvanian (Desmoinesian) Warner and Bluejacket formations of mid-western Missouri in order to determine and compare their depositional environments.
Grains of the Bluejacket sandstones are smaller and more rounded than grains of the Warner sandstones. The Bluejacket sandstone is also better sorted than the Warner sandstone.
The Bluejacket sandstone is thin-bedded; the Warner is mostly massive-bedded. These differences in bedding between the two formations have affected distribution of oil in the area of study.

"This investigation is concerned with the study of various programs employed in reducing and controlling sediment. The measures employed by the U.S. Soil Conservation and Forestry Services to control and reduce erosion, the primary source of sediment, was studied. The flood control and river navigation structures constructed and operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the effect of these structures on sedimentation was also evaluated. State and local community regulation and control of exploited natural resources was studied to determine their influence on the generation and control of sediment.

"The Acari Iron Mining District, part of a tilted uplifted fault block, comprises an area about 300 square kilometers, in the southern part of the coastal belt of Peru. It is in the foothills of the western range of the Andes and it is dominantly formed by granodioritic and granitic intrusive rocks which belong to the Andean batholith of Cretaceous-Tertiary age. "Twenty-five samples of well cuttings from the Iraq Petroleum Company Butmah Number 9 Well in northwestern Iraq, at approximately 36° 37' north latitude and 42° 41' east longitude, have been examined in detail. The boundary between the Upper Cretaceous and lower Cenozoic is recorded as closely as possible on the basis of the microfaunal assembalges. "A program for Matlock's recursive method, a numerical method which will analyze beams and columns with linearly varying spring supports, was modified to enable the solution of such members supported by non-linear springs. This modification was accomplished by an iterative technique. The final result of this paper is a computer program which can be used to solve beams or columns with non-linear spring supports, giving as output the deflection, slope, moment, shear, net load and curvature of the structure at uniformly spaced locations"--Abstract, page ii.

"This thesis presents both an experimental and analytical analysis of the scram characteristics of a fluid control system for a nuclear reactor. This control system utilizes a control tube containing a neutron-absorbing fluid. The level of the fluid inside of the tube is then regulated by means of' a pressurized gas and offers a number of unique advantages over the conventional control rod system using linear absorber rods.
The effect of varying the level-control pressure and initial height of the fluid column is determined and evaluated. The time required to complete a scram with the fluid control system is compared …

"Many studies and analyses of shell structures to date have been either so complex and laborious as to preclude their application in practical design problems or so approximate, because of basic assumptions, as to limit their scope of application. Hence, a method of shell analysis which is convenient to use, reasonable in its results and general in its application is really needed. It is the purpose of this study to supply such a method of analysis.
