Voluntary Control Of Gsr Using Continuous Visual Display And Simultaneous Changes In Other Autonomic Functions, Laurence E. Boyce
Voluntary Control Of Gsr Using Continuous Visual Display And Simultaneous Changes In Other Autonomic Functions, Laurence E. Boyce
Masters Theses
Using 28 male undergraduate university students provided with continuous oscilloscope display of basal skin resistance, this study investigated voluntary control of the GSR and concurrent changes in respiration. It was found, given feedback, subjects could voluntarily raise or lower their GSR. Subjects instructed to increase their GSR (N-14) could do so within the first trial session. However, subjects instructed to decrease their GSR (N-14) required additional practice. With less than 20 minutes of practice all subjects were able to reach a criterion of 2,500 ohms change from their basal level. Subjects increasing their GSR were found to have a significant …
Computerized Registration For High Schools, Kenneth Lee Fore
Computerized Registration For High Schools, Kenneth Lee Fore
Masters Theses
"The guidance personnel in a high school are often burdened with the duty of hand scheduling the student's courses. Using the computer as a sub-optimizing tool in the registration of students, however, can cut scheduling time dramatically and relieve the guidance department of an onerous chore. The technique described in this investigation uses a conflict matrix that schedules the student's request and keeps the class load level within the course sections. A search of the schedule array for each course request may uncover a conflict. If no conflict occurs the course is scheduled and the remaining courses for this student …

Validation Of A Measure Of Aggression, Jack Edward Shook
Validation Of A Measure Of Aggression, Jack Edward Shook
Masters Theses
The study attempted to validate a questionnaire as a method of measuring aggression resulting from frustration. The method consisted of correlating aggression measured by the questionnaire with aggression produced by an actual frustrating situation. An insult-failure technique was used to produce the frustration during the administration of a bogus aptitude test. Evaluation of the experimenter was the direct expression and measurement of aggression. A control group was used to insure validity of the frustration technique. Eighty six students participated in the study. The correlation was significant for males. The correlation was not significant for females. Males were not more aggressive …

A Study And Design Of A Cardiac Interbeat Interval Timer System, Richard William Mooney
A Study And Design Of A Cardiac Interbeat Interval Timer System, Richard William Mooney
Masters Theses
"This thesis reports the design of a system which can measure and record the cardiac interbeat times of human subjects in a continuous beat to beat manner, using the bioelectrical signal associated with the heart as an input. The design is in response to the needs of clinical researchers.
The means of obtaining the bioelectrical signal and previous designs of electrocardiographic equipment, especially electrocardiotachometers, are reviewed. A design is proposed which consists of a preamplifier to amplify the bioelectrical signal, a 60 Hz rejection filter, and a beat detector which uses a differentiation technique to obtain a reliable single output …
High Speed Magnetically Supported Vehicles For Reducing Transportation's Degradations Of The Environment, Pravinchandra Shukla
High Speed Magnetically Supported Vehicles For Reducing Transportation's Degradations Of The Environment, Pravinchandra Shukla
Masters Theses
"The development of new techniques for higher speed transportation is desirable to satisfy the environmental, conservation, and economic requirements of society. Some of the important factors are presented for developing magnetically supported vehicles. A new method for improving the ratio of lift force to drag force is suggested and discussed. An application of the new technique to vehicles that would ride on a carpet of magnetism and would operate with less waste of energy is suggested "--Abstract, page ii.
