An Analysis Of Personal Characteristics As Motivating Factors That Influenced Selecting A Particular Site For Canoeing, Ben Crail Butler
An Analysis Of Personal Characteristics As Motivating Factors That Influenced Selecting A Particular Site For Canoeing, Ben Crail Butler
Masters Theses
NEED: The canoe is being used for many types of work and pleasure. Little evidence is available regarding factors that may influence canoeing instruction.
PURPOSE: This study is an attempt to determine the factors which influence people who cross the Four-Mile Portage at Basswood Lake, Ely, Minnesota to go on a canoe trip.
METHOD OF RESEARCH: By the use of a questionnaire, given to people who go canoeing, valuable information could be obtained on the frequency a person goes canoeing, the type of instruction they received and where they received it, their opinion on offering canoeing in the physical education …

Stochastic Simulations Analysis And Determination Of Iteration Requirements, James Walter Smith
Stochastic Simulations Analysis And Determination Of Iteration Requirements, James Walter Smith
Masters Theses
"A thorough analysis of computerized stochastic simulation problems has been undertaken to determine the number of iterations (or random draws) necessary to achieve a required degree of output accuracy. The basic problem is to determine when the sampled output mean and standard deviation are within specified accuracy limits. An error analysis is made of the statistical properties of deterministic-probablistic [sic] and logic (random walk) type problems. A recommendation for determining the number of problem iterations required is then presented"--Abstract, page ii.
Dynamic Response Of A Gyrocompass, Subhash Govind Kelkar
Dynamic Response Of A Gyrocompass, Subhash Govind Kelkar
Masters Theses
"A gyrocompass with three degrees of freedom is studied and an attempt made to solve the exact equations of motion numerically. The equations are obtained by using the Lagrange formulation of the problem. The kinetic energy and the potential energy of the system are determined from the energies of the various components. These are then substituted into Lagrange's equation to obtain the three equations of motion for the three angular coordinates. As few restrictive assumptions as possible are made during this development. From these exact equations of motion an approximate analytical solution is obtained by making several assumptions and then …
Design Of R-C-C-R Spatial Mechanism, Kao-Chien Hsei
Design Of R-C-C-R Spatial Mechanism, Kao-Chien Hsei
Masters Theses
"An analysis to design a particular R-C-C-R spatial mechanism was developed using tensor notations and operations. This specific R-C-C-R spatial mechanism can be used to couple two shafts intersected at a skew angle with constant rotating speed ratio. This skew angle, or bending angle of the two shaft, may vary from 30 up to 180 degrees. The governing equations of relative positions of the mechanism were formulated as a function of two variables: the bending angle of the shafts and the rotating angle of the input link. To exemplify the various design conditions, the design parameter versus the bending angle …
Sorption And Desorption Of Chlorinated Hydrocarbon Pesticides By Clay Minerals, Cheng Sun Liao
Sorption And Desorption Of Chlorinated Hydrocarbon Pesticides By Clay Minerals, Cheng Sun Liao
Masters Theses
"This thesis describes the sorption and desorption of chlorinated hydrocarbon pesticides by clay minerals under laboratory controlled environmental systems. Particular emphasis was directed toward the investigation of the fundamental adsorption phenomena which occurred in selected pesticide-clay systems. the effects of certain environmental stresses, including pH, temperature and salt (NaCl) concentration of water, on the behavior of sorption and desorption were also studied. Pesticides selected for this study included DDT, dieldrin and heptachlor, and clay minerals employed were kaolinite, montmorillonite and illite. The adsorption rate and equilibrium were evaluated by batch techniques employing completely mixed systems while the effects of the …
