Estimation Of Vehicle Transfer Functions., Leonard Francis Laskowski Iii
Estimation Of Vehicle Transfer Functions., Leonard Francis Laskowski Iii
Masters Theses
"This study is an investigation of several techniques used to estimate lateral control models for vehicles. The lateral control model that was identified related steering wheel angle input to lateral acceleration output. Two different order models were identified, one a biquadratic and the other a fourth order lowpass system with second order numerator dynamics. The two main approaches investigated were:
1) Regression analysis
2) Fast Fourier Transform Techniques These techniques were chosen because of their inherent immunity to noise.
A CSMP simulation of all identified models was then made to determine their validity. These checks were made using laboratory data …
A Faunal Study Of Illinois Silphidae (Coleoptera), Brian Baldwin
A Faunal Study Of Illinois Silphidae (Coleoptera), Brian Baldwin
Masters Theses
A faunal study of the family Silphidae in Illinois was made through examination of over 1400 specimens. A brief history of the taxonomy of the family and a description of silphid ecology was presented. Keys to the tribes, genera, and species of adult Silphidae occurring in Illinois were divised. Four genera and sixteen species of silphids are described, supplemented with drawings and distribution maps.
"Project Dial": An Early Childhood Screening Program, Lewis S. Sarff
"Project Dial": An Early Childhood Screening Program, Lewis S. Sarff
Masters Theses
This field study addressed the problem of "actively seeking" out and identifying children (ages 3 to 5 years) likely to develop late learning problems upon school enrollment. The procedures developed and reported in this paper deal with initial public relations, facilities, personnel, an evaluation instrument Developmental Indicators for the Assessment of Learning (DIAL), hearing and vision testing, and reporting of results to parents and school personnel.
The paper also includes means and standard deviations for DIAL subtest scores by one year age groups and by sex, as well as simple and multiple r's for each of the DIAL variables individually …

Establishment Of A District Media Center In Ottawa School District 141, William L. Connelly
Masters Theses
The study consisted primarily of an evaluation on the media program in the Ottawa Elementary School District 141 and recommendations for improving this program. A key element in improving the program is the establishment of a district media center.
The study begins with a review of the literature concerning the role of the media in schools, the value of coordinating media programs, and the role played by district media centers.
The paper explains the categories used in evaluating the schools and examines each in relationship to the established criteria set forth in Standards for Educational Media (Library and Audiovisual) Programs …

The Social History Questionnaire In Relation To Suicide Risk Potential, Edward Ward
The Social History Questionnaire In Relation To Suicide Risk Potential, Edward Ward
Masters Theses
The study of suicide is the study of individuals, each of whom can be considered a unique entity. However, in the course of studying suicide case histories, some demographic variables seem to repeat themselves as differentiating potential suicides from persons who will never attempt or commit suicide. The purpose of this paper is to determine which social history variables correlate significantly with subjects who have made a definite suicide attempt or gesture.
The basic question raised by this thesis was: What factors in a person's social history correlate significantly to an increased probability of having made a suicide attempt or …
Pesticide Residues In The Illinois Wild Turkey, John M. Bridges
Pesticide Residues In The Illinois Wild Turkey, John M. Bridges
Masters Theses
Adipose tissue from 55 turkeys, killed during the 1974 hunting season in southern Illinois, was grouped by age and location of the birds, and the pesticide concentrations in them were determined by gas/liquid chromatography. Twelve different pesticides were identified in the samples with only four, total DDT, heptachlor epoxide, toxaphene, and linuron, being present in all samples. Concentrations ranged from 0.02 ppm to 0.88 ppm.
The Status Of Beaver In East Central Illinois, Kenneth Edward Snearley
The Status Of Beaver In East Central Illinois, Kenneth Edward Snearley
Masters Theses
Parts of three major streams in east central Illinois: the Embarrass, the Kaskaskia and Okaw Rivers were cruised during the fall of 1973 and the summer and fall of 1974. Beaver (Castor canadensis) sign were located and recorded. A qualitative analysis of the woody vegetation on the Kaskaskia and Okaw Rivers was undertaken.
Two activity sites were located on the Embarrass. Three fresh and three old cutting sites were located on the Kaskaskia in 1973; in 1974, five fresh sites were found. The Okaw had six fresh and six old cutting sites in 1973, but in 1974, only …

Investigation Of A Modulation Method And Signal Processing Techniques For Digital Data Transmission In Hf Channels., Michael Ray Campbell
Investigation Of A Modulation Method And Signal Processing Techniques For Digital Data Transmission In Hf Channels., Michael Ray Campbell
Masters Theses
"This thesis presents a method of improving the performance of digital communication systems operating in environments typical of the high-frequency (HF) band. The HF channel is a compound error event channel in that it contains random errors due to additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) plus burst-type errors due to effects such as impulse noise and tone interference. A method of signal design using the time-frequency plane is utilized. This facilitates design of signal sets that may be blanked in time and frequency, thus reducing the effects of the nonGaussian interference. Several signal designs are presented and compared in trms of …
Universality Of Management Principles And Applicability Of American Management Know-How In Less Developed Countries., Minas Lessanu
Universality Of Management Principles And Applicability Of American Management Know-How In Less Developed Countries., Minas Lessanu
Masters Theses
"The title is the Universality of management principle through the history and development of management thoughts. It illustrates the gradual education of management principles. Then it goes on to discuss certain problems of the field of management, in particular the problems associated with semetics.
The thesis then discloses the different management principles in the different managerial functions of planning, organizing staffing and controlling. It then shows these principles to be universal and finally discloses the different environmental constraints that evolved and concludes that they are universal, but their applicability is to a certain extent possible and highly dependent on the …
