Investigating The Economic Impacts Of Globalization On Employment Generation In Africa: Case Study Of The Ecowas, William Dickson Amenyo
Investigating The Economic Impacts Of Globalization On Employment Generation In Africa: Case Study Of The Ecowas, William Dickson Amenyo
Masters Theses
A review of the ongoing debate on the economic impacts of globalization on employment in developing economies shows that the predictions of most trade theories that, an increase in globalization would result in more employment in labor abundant countries has not always proven to be true. This study actually examines the employment impact of economic globalization to recipient economies – ECOWAS member states. The analysis has employed a balanced panel dataset of 13 ECOWAS member nations over the period 1990 – 2017. Based on the Fixed Effects estimation approach, the empirical analysis reveals that over the full sample, economic globalization …

With the emergence of new superpowers, the changing landscape of the global economy, and the heterogeneity of growth experiences being discovered in recent times, the concept of growth convergence must be revisited. This study examines whether developing countries are catching up with the advanced countries in terms of their per capita income. The study uses a panel analysis of 69 countries over a period of 39 years spanning from 1980 to 2018 to test for growth convergence (both absolute and conditional) among countries based on the Augmented Solow model. The countries were further divided into three regions namely, Europe, Asia, …
Relationship Between One’S Motive For Curiosity And Meaning In Life, Charles Reither
Relationship Between One’S Motive For Curiosity And Meaning In Life, Charles Reither
Masters Theses
Meaning in life as a psychological construct has many demonstrated benefits for psychological well-being and optimal functioning (Steger, 2013), and the treatment of clinical populations (Thir & Batthyány, 2016). This study investigated in greater detail than is currently available in the psychological literature how meaning in life is related to curiosity. Meaning in life was explored using top-down (the presence of and the search for meaning) and bottom-up (the specific sources of meaning) approaches. Curiosity was examined in its two motivation-based forms: curiosity motivated by the anticipation and enjoyment of discovery (an appetitive interest-type of curiosity) and curiosity motivated by …

On Predicting Stopping Time Of Human Sequential Decision-Making Using Discounted Satisficing Heuristic, Mounica Devaguptapu
On Predicting Stopping Time Of Human Sequential Decision-Making Using Discounted Satisficing Heuristic, Mounica Devaguptapu
Masters Theses
“Human sequential decision-making involves two essential questions: (i) "what to choose next?", and (ii) "when to stop?". Assuming that the human agents choose an alternative according to their preference order, our goal is to model and learn how human agents choose their stopping time while making sequential decisions. In contrary to traditional assumptions in the literature regarding how humans exhibit satisficing behavior on instantaneous utilities, we assume that humans employ a discounted satisficing heuristic to compute their stopping time, i.e., the human agent stops working if the total accumulated utility goes beyond a dynamic threshold that gets discounted with time. …

Extending The Capabilities Of Von Neumann With A Dataflow Sub-Isa, Martin Cowley
Extending The Capabilities Of Von Neumann With A Dataflow Sub-Isa, Martin Cowley
Masters Theses
Instruction set architectures (ISAs) such as x86, ARM, and RISC-V follow the control flow model of computation, where a program is defined as a sequence of instructions. Early processors executed instructions one-by-one based on the control flow of a program. Dataflow is an alternative model of computation that uses the availability of data to drive instruction execution. Any instruction can be chosen for execution, independent of the instruction order, as long as the data is available for that instruction. While modern processors incorporate concepts of the dataflow model in the microarchitecture, the implementation of the ISA, the amount of instruction …
