Sequential Processing Deficits In Reading Retardation, Sara Gambrell Tarver

Doehring (1968) hypothesized that a basic sequential processing deficit underlies specific reading disability. To investigate sequential processing deficits in reading retardation, four tasks involving the reproduction of stimuli in a particular sequence were administered to a group of retarded readers and a group of normal readers matched on age, sex, race, educational opportunity, sociocultural environment, and Non-Language IQ on the CTMM. The normal readers were significantly superior to the retarded readers on the four sequential processing tasks and on two other tests, vocabulary and rhyming. The two groups did not differ significantly on reversals discrimination, perceptual speed, or cumulative learning. …

The Role Of Interference And Trace Decay In The Retention Of A Simple Psychomotor Task, Stephen David Southall

The purpose of the present study was to try to distinguish between the interference theory and trace decay theory and to try to establish whether one or a combination of the two best accounts for the forgetting shown in motor short-term memory (STM). The experiment was a seven by three factorial design with repeated measures on the second factor. The first factor was number of prior responses which the S experienced on the linear slide apparatus, and the number of responses ranged from zero through six. A review of the literature since 1899 when Morley offered his original hypothesis. Various authors have given proofs of the theorem, shown the existence of 27 such triangles, and established relationships to other mathematical concepts: isogonal conjugates, Lemoine point, Hessian points and axis, circles of Apollonius, Brianchon hexagons. The author explores the various intersections of the n-sectors of the angles of a general triangle, showing, incidentally, the uniqueness of the Morley equilateral triangle. Turning to the quadrilateral, the intersections of the tri-sectors of: the angles of a parallelogram, rectangle, trapezoid, and kite-shaped quadrilateral are examined, as well as those of …
