Seasonal Sexual Cycle Of Nerodia Taxispilota (Serpentes: Colubridae) At The Northeastern Edge Of Its Range, David Roland White
Seasonal Sexual Cycle Of Nerodia Taxispilota (Serpentes: Colubridae) At The Northeastern Edge Of Its Range, David Roland White
Master's Theses
The seasonality of the sexual cycle of Nerodia taxispilota at the northeastern edge of its range was elucidated from specimens collected over a two-year period (1978-1979) from the Appomattox River near Hopewell, Virginia. The investigation centered on morphological changes in the testis of males and vitellogenesis and embryo development in females. Related reproductive parameters also studied were body size differences, seasonal sex ratios, comparative tail lengths, and tail mutilation.
Male and female cycles closely resembled those of other temperate zone colubrids. Spermatogenesis began in May and testis size peaked in late August. Testis length showed a time lag when compared …

Master's Theses
A journalist's range of interests may be as varied and complex as the range of interests of the audience to whom he is appealing. Whereas Samuel Feinberg in Women's Wear Daily writes mainly for persons interested in business, a perusal through decades of Time shows its writers trying to reach a larger audience and thus writing on scores of different topics. The longevity of an author's work correlates to the success with which he captures his audience's characteristics and oral traditions. We find that such writers as E. B. White, Finley Peter Dunne, and Mark Twain have succeeded in almost …
Locus Of Control Modification As A Function Of Siituational Control And Performance Feedback : A Replication And Extension, Ronald J. Kline
Locus Of Control Modification As A Function Of Siituational Control And Performance Feedback : A Replication And Extension, Ronald J. Kline
Master's Theses
Fifty-four middle school age (sixth to eighth grade) children took part in a study designed to examine the effects of situational control and performance feedback on locus of control orientation. The subjects took part in a task situation in which they were asked to read three fictitious experiments and decide from a list of ten results which ones were actually found in the experiment and which were not. Pre and post-task measures were obtained on two locus of control scales. The Locus of Control Scale For Success - Failure (Epstein and Komorita, 1971) was answered in direct relation to the …

The Root Mission, William R. Conger
Master's Theses
The purpose of this study is to examine the Root Mission to Russia from it conception to its final report and to evaluate the effectiveness of each member individually as well as that of the Mission as a whole. Influence Of The "International Theme" In The Novels Of Sinclair Lewis., David Charles Thaw
Influence Of The "International Theme" In The Novels Of Sinclair Lewis., David Charles Thaw
Master's Theses
The "International Theme" in literature arose as a result of real-life confrontations between Americans and Europeans. Conflict was inevitable as the feudal tradition of England with its emphasis on social caste met head-on with the democratic traditions of a ew nation. By definition the "international theme" focused on the conflict of manners between two citizens of different nations who disagree on the correct way of behaving in a given situation. For example, the titled nobility of Europe feel that some deference should be shown to them due to their rank and not because they have accomplished something of merit. Particularly, …

Relationships Between The Four Temperament Types: Sanguine, Choleric, Phlegmatic, And Melancholic, And Leisure Time Physical Activities, Herbert W. Helm Jr
Master's Theses
Problem
The physical health of a person seems to be an important issue in today's society. It would seem reasonable to hypothesize that the temperament of an individual may be a predisposing factor toward or against participation on a regular exercise program. It was the purpose of this study to determine what relationship exists between a person's temperament type and the amount of leisure time physical activity he or she performs.
Method
One-hundred and ninety-three college students participated in this study. The "Temperament Inventory" was used to determine a person's score on each of the four temperament types. The "Minnesota …
