An Investigation Of The Relationship Between Learning-Style And Temperament Of Senior High-School Students In The Bahamas And Jamaica, Owen Anthony Roberts
An Investigation Of The Relationship Between Learning-Style And Temperament Of Senior High-School Students In The Bahamas And Jamaica, Owen Anthony Roberts
Master's Theses
Problem: The purpose of this study was to determine whether senior high-school students’ temperaments are considered a significant factor which affect their learning style.
Method: An ex-post facto research design was used. Two standardized instruments (Learning Style and Temperament inventories) were administered to a total of 326 senior high-school students in the Bahamas and Jamaica.
Results: 1. Significant correlations were found between the scales of the Learning Style and Temperament inventories. 2. Each temperament type is characterized by a linear combination of learning-style variables. 3. Differences exist between (a) males and females on the learning style variables, and (b) Bahamian …
Testing The Efficacy Of A Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment For Impulsivity With Female Juvenile Delinquents, Dinaz Lynn Stafford
Testing The Efficacy Of A Cognitive-Behavioral Treatment For Impulsivity With Female Juvenile Delinquents, Dinaz Lynn Stafford
Master's Theses
This experiment was conducted in order to determine the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral treatment, involving self-instructions training for impulsivity, on female juvenile delinquents. An additional consideration was whether instructions educating subjects about the generalizability of self-instructions would lead to a decrease in impulsivity in a classroom situation. Thirty subjects were randomly assigned tp 3 groups - Group 1 being trained in self-instructions and receiving generalizing instructions, Group 2 being trained self-instruction alone, and Group 3 serving as the attentional control group. The Matching Familiar Figures test was admini stered before and after treatment sessions and the Impulsive Behavior Scale was rated …
Characteristics Of A Ca++ Atpase Enzyme In The Epidermis Of Molting Blue Crabs, Callinectes Sapidus, Joanne Elizabeth Lapetina
Characteristics Of A Ca++ Atpase Enzyme In The Epidermis Of Molting Blue Crabs, Callinectes Sapidus, Joanne Elizabeth Lapetina
Master's Theses
Epidermal Ca++-activated ATPase was investigated in relation to the molt cycle of the blue crab, Callinectes sapidus. Premolt and postmolt tissue samples demonstrated significant elevations in Ca++-activated ATPase activity in comparison to intermolt tissue samples. These results support the suggestion that this enzyme may participate in demineralization of the old cuticle, as well as calcification of the new cuticle.
The enzyme is localized in the heavy particulate-nuclear fraction and is distinguished from mitochondrial Ca++ ATPase found in other tissues by differences in sensitivity to mersalyl acid. 0 The enzyme is most active at 49 C …
The Effects Of Color Reversal On The Maze Performance Of Learning Disabled And Normal Children, Susan Ramsay Knaysi
The Effects Of Color Reversal On The Maze Performance Of Learning Disabled And Normal Children, Susan Ramsay Knaysi
Master's Theses
Recent studies examining the performance of braininjured children (specifically, cerebral palsied children) reported improvement of perceptual-motor abilities on graphic tests with figure-ground reversals (Uhlin & Dickinson, 1970; May, 1978). A pilot study was done to ascertain whether this facilitative effect of color manipulation would be demonstrated with hyperactive children also classified as perceptually impaired. A significant difference in performance was found between the white background/black figure manipulation and the black background/white figure manipulation by age (5-10 year olds). Normal children did not demonstrate this facilitative effect. It was postulated that this effect would generalize to learning disabled children. In the …
The Effects Of Photoperiod And Melatonin Injections On The Reproductive System Of The Male Mongolian Gerbil (Meriones Unguiculatus), Luis Jose Cova Marchan
The Effects Of Photoperiod And Melatonin Injections On The Reproductive System Of The Male Mongolian Gerbil (Meriones Unguiculatus), Luis Jose Cova Marchan
Master's Theses
This work was undertaken to study the effects of photoperiod and melatonin on fertility in male Mongolian gerbils (Meriones unguiculatus). Four groups of fifteen animals each, were placed in different photoperiods (ambient, ranging from 14L:10D to 11.3L:12.3D; 24L:10D; 14L:10D; and 1L:23D). After 35 days, three gerbils from each photoperiod condition were sacrificed and the testes, epididymides, seminal vesicles, prostate, kidneys, adrenals, thymus and hypophysis were weighed. The testes and epididymides were placed in Bouin's fixative and used for histological studies. Also, two males from each photoperiod condition were paired individually with a female. The remaining animals of each photoperiod condition …
