A Comparative Analysis Of The Student Movements In The United States And Japan, 1964-1970, Charlotte Jackson Lerch
Master's Theses
The basic question seems to be this: are there, indeed, any experiences similar enough to say that the basic causes of student unrest in the United States and Japan are the same? I would hypothesize that there are. It is my thesis that student unrest and the causes of student unrest in highly advanced countries are similar. While students may be dissatisfied with the same structures within their societies. Therefore, I intend to demonstrate in this paper, my thesis that student unrest and the cause of student unrest in modern countries are similar.

The Immigration Act Of 1924: The Role Of The California Joint Immigration Committee, Donald Van Brocklin
The Immigration Act Of 1924: The Role Of The California Joint Immigration Committee, Donald Van Brocklin
Master's Theses
For at least forty years prior to the 1920's immigration crisis, there was some form of agitation to restrict or exclude either the Chinese, the Hindus, or the Japanese. The highest level of ferment occurred during the period 1920-l933. Activity in the early 1920's focused particularly on restricting all immigration. This was successfully enacted in the emergency federal legislation of 1921 and the Immigration Act of 1924 (popularly known as the Johnson Act) which placed permanent quotas upon all immigration and excluded Asians as permanent entrants into the United States.
The subject of this paper focuses on the course of …
Quantitative Growth Relationships Of Microcoleus Vaginatus (Gom.) Ex Drouet And Alcaligenes Sp. In A Sucrose-Salts Medium, James Rexford Brownell
Quantitative Growth Relationships Of Microcoleus Vaginatus (Gom.) Ex Drouet And Alcaligenes Sp. In A Sucrose-Salts Medium, James Rexford Brownell
Master's Theses
The blue-green alga, Microcoleus vaginatus (Gom.) ex Drouet 1968, and a bacterium, Alcaligenes sp., collected from the same habitat, were cultured together and separately in mineral salts media with and without sucrose. Growth of axenic M. vaginatus was stimulated by sucrose. In association with the bacterium in sucrose-containing media algal growth was suppressed, while in inorganic media it was stimulated. Factors involved in this algal-bacterial system probably included competition for the carbon source, changes in pH, and accumulation of cellular waste and lytic products.

A Comparison Of Values In Black And White Children In The Upper, Middle And Lower Social Classes, Emmanuel Ola Atolagbe
A Comparison Of Values In Black And White Children In The Upper, Middle And Lower Social Classes, Emmanuel Ola Atolagbe
Master's Theses
Purpose of the Study
The purpose of the study was to (1) discover if the value system of blacks is different from the value system of whites, and (2) to determine if social class is a significant influencing factor in the shaping of values.
Methods and Procedures
Many studies have been conducted in which the values of blacks and whites of both sexes in the lower, middle and upper classes were examined. Schuster (1968) conducted a study in which the values of blacks and whites of both sexes in the upper social class were examined. Lott and Lott (1963) examined …

A Study Of A Divalent Cation-Selective Electrode, William Stanhope Ryan Jr.
A Study Of A Divalent Cation-Selective Electrode, William Stanhope Ryan Jr.
Master's Theses
The ion-selective membrane electrode, recently introduced commercially, has shown excellent promise as a tool for determining ionic activities and concentrations in solution. It was the intent of the author to study the Orion divalent cation-selective electrode with two objectives.
The first objective of this research was to characterize the response of the divalent cation-selective electrode to calcium and magnesium ions in aqueous solutions. The effect of anions, monovalent cations; and pH upon this response was investigated. An examination was made of the response of this electrode to other divalent cations and of the effect of organic solvents on the membrane …
A Comparative Study Of Solubilized Proteins From Phycomyces Blakesleeannus By Disc Electrophoresis, Douglas Burton Gillespie
A Comparative Study Of Solubilized Proteins From Phycomyces Blakesleeannus By Disc Electrophoresis, Douglas Burton Gillespie
Master's Theses
Mycelial, sporangiophore, and zygospore solubilized protein fractions o Phycomyces blakesleeanus Burgeff were separated on polyacrylamide gels and stained. Protein patterns of 8 and 13 day old mycelia of the + strain were identical as were the patterns of the same two age groups of the - strain. The + mycelia exhibited 9 protein bands while the - strain contained 10 bands. Seven bands were homologous to both strains. Sporangiophore samples of 5 and 10 day old cultures from + and - strains contained 4 protein bands homologous to all 4 samples. The protein band at 9 mm was also …

Synthesis Of Chromium Tricarbonyl Complexes Of 1,3-Diaryl-2-Propyl Methanesulfonates, Ashby French Johnson
Master's Theses
Various unsymmetrically substituted 1 , 3-dipheny l -2- propylmethanesulfonates were prepared and complexed with chromium hexacarbonyl. The major products obtained from this complexation contained one rr -complexed ring and the other ring substituted with more common groups.
