Program for the mentally retarded; and (4) to determine the number of fourth, fifth and sixth grade pupils in Henrico County who need screening for possible admission into Special Education Classes.

The purpose of this study of Shakespeare's use of letters is twofold. First, representative plays will be examined to determine some of the ways in which letters contributed to such important elements as plot structure, character delineation, creation of atmosphere, heightening of suspense, or a combination of two or more of these and possibly other uses. In addition, the letters will be studied for the evidence they may furnish in themselves, of the development of Shakespeare's dramatic technique and artistry.

The purpose of the present study is to discover some of the biographical factors (personal, family, and environmental) which are characteristic of a majority of underachievers in junior high school. The discovery of these factors may lead to the development of an instrument which would assist in the detection, early in school, of an underachieving predisposition. This seems to be a logical possibility in view of a study by Shaw and Mccuen (1960). Their results indicated individual patterns of academic achievement for male and female underachievers beginning early in elementary school. It was the purpose of this study to compare the pupils in the graded plan of organization with the pupils in the nongraded plan of organization with reference to their ability and achievement.

Thomas Bahnson Stanley was born on a farm near Spencer, Henry County, Virginia, July 16, 1890. His mother was Susan Walker Stanley, a native of Walkertown, North Carolina; a daugh­ter of R.L.Walker and a niece of judge Henry Mullins of Martins­ville. His father was Crockett Stanley who served with Company H, Twenty-fourth Virginia Infantry, Pickett's Division, and was wounded at Gettysburg, during the Civil War. The purpose of this study was to determine the relative efficacy of selected drugs in reducing the hyperactivity end increasing the attention span of a ten-year old child who had been medically diagnosed as having brain damage.

The evaluation of the effects of three drugs, Chlordiazepoxide (librium), Fluphenasine Hydrochloride (Prolixin), Thioridazine (Mellaril), and a combination of Mellaril and Methylphenidate Hydrochloride (Ritalin), was made by a psychiatrist after consideration of (1) written observations of the child’s school activities during a two-hour period, (2) a tabulation of data based on the observations, (3) reports made by the parents and teacher of the …
