This paper is an effort to prove by a historical formula, an analysis of fact, and a parallel of events that the finished product of Fascism today has been in the making for a century. It sees the manifest origins of Fascism in the philosophy of Hegel and the milieu out of which Hegelianism grew. Tradition which has been handed down to us by word of mouth, gives the family a French Huguenot extraction, and the rudimentary researches in that direction have seemed to uphold this tradition in every way.

The last battle of the War Between the States occurred in a vicinity particularly well adapted for the military tragedy that it was. The meandering Appomattox river found its way between hills the were high and close to the stream, making the approaches to it very difficult. It was a poor defensive position because the rear could be easily taken. Over the whole of this area grew dark pine woods, broken by scattered plantations and a few small farms.
