The past five years has shown tremendous growth in a new wave and style of investing strategy. This new style, known as behavioral investing, attempts to analyze financial markets through the eye of a social scientist rather than a financial professional. Its followers try to see market movements as affected not necessarily by the business or economy but by the cognition and mood of buyers and seller. Foreign Language instruction is a useful tool in the schools. It allows for cultural exposure and language formations. Foreign language instruction is especially important at the lower elementary levels because younger students are able to learn a language much quicker than older students. Also, research has shown that foreign language taught at the elementary level increases standardized test scores in verbal intelligence, mental flexibility, reading and even math. The College Board noted that students with more than five years of foreign language instruction scored higher on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) than students with little or no foreign language. Below I will address the failure of racial essentialist multiculturalism's approach toward combating racism, the confining and backward logic upon which identity politics multiculturalism is founded, the excesses of poststructuralist multiculturalism, and finally, in an attempt to show these theories in practice, I will move to the classroom and explore the ramifications of these strands of multiculturalism on the teaching of history and English. Studying the structure and the effectiveness of ads can suggest how and why advertisers' commercials appeal to consumers. Narrowing this study down to one medium-television, one product--athletic shoes, and one audience-teenagers, can better identify commercials' appeals and their effectiveness. The study of television athletic shoe advertisements, as viewed by teenagers, provides primary data about both the ads themselves and about their appeals to the 15- to 18-year-old audience.
