Use Of The Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory To Identify Addiction In College Students, Kathleen M. Gierhart
Use Of The Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory To Identify Addiction In College Students, Kathleen M. Gierhart
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Considering the severity of the substance abuse problems on college campuses today, there exists a need for an empirical measure designed to identify substance addiction in college students which will allow universities to provide appropriate intervention and treatment programming. The Substance Abuse Subtle Screening Inventory (SASSI) was designed to identify addiction in the general public with the special ability to break through the denial and defensiveness typically associated with substance abuse. The SASSI was administered to students participating in a substance education program at a private, midsized university in the Midwest. A chi-square analysis, adjusted by the Fisher Exact test, …

The Diagnostic Distinguishability Of Self-Defeating Personality Disorder From Dependent Personality Disorder, Steven Ken Huprich
The Diagnostic Distinguishability Of Self-Defeating Personality Disorder From Dependent Personality Disorder, Steven Ken Huprich
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
This study was designed to determine whether or not self-defeating personality disorder can be accurately diagnosed by psychologists from written case studies. Additionally, the study attempted to determine the extent of overlap between self-defeating personality disorder and dependent personality disorder. Psychologists were identified from the Ohio Psychological Association and were sent a questionnaire through the mail. They were asked to read six case studies and, if they believed one of the diagnoses was appropriate, select an Axis II diagnosis from four choices provided. Three of the four self-defeating cases were accurately diagnosed at a rate significantly greater than chance. Female …

Short And Long Term Properties Of High Strength Concrete, Mohamed El-Sayed Hassan
Short And Long Term Properties Of High Strength Concrete, Mohamed El-Sayed Hassan
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
A comprehensive experimental study was carried out to investigate the engineering properties of high strength concrete in the range of 10,000 to 15,000 psi. The study included the determination of the uniaxial compressive strength, static modulus of elasticity, tensile strength, flexural strength, stress distribution parameters and Whitney block assumption and temperature rise of high strength concrete due to chemical reaction. The concrete was produced by using silica fume, locally available aggregate, cement type I, superplasticisers and retarders. Three concrete mix designs were obtained from ready recipes and tests were carried out at six different ages. Test results were compared with …

Non-Real-Time, Homogenous Sea Clutter Signal Generator, Seng Muy Hong
Non-Real-Time, Homogenous Sea Clutter Signal Generator, Seng Muy Hong
Graduate Theses and Dissertations
In general, radar clutter may be defined as unwanted radar echo. Its name is descriptive of the fact that such echoes can 'clutter' the radar receiver and make the detection of wanted target signals difficult to achieve. Examples of unwanted echoes, or clutter are the reflections from land, sea, rain, birds, buildings, chaff, clear-air turbulence, and other atmospheric effects, as well as from ionized media such as the aurora and meteor trails. The echo from the surface of the sea often places severe limits on the differentiation of backscatter returns from ships, aircraft, missiles, and other targets of interest that …
