The Levels Of Prostaglandins In The Uterus Of Nonpregnant, Pregnant And Progesterone-Treated Ewes., Laird Wilson Jan 1971

The Levels Of Prostaglandins In The Uterus Of Nonpregnant, Pregnant And Progesterone-Treated Ewes., Laird Wilson

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

The review of literature established that in certain species the uterus has profound effects on ovarian function, Pharriss hypothesized that PGF could be the uterine iuteolytic factor, 2o^. the key to understanding the relationship between the uterus and the life span of the corpus luteum. It was the objective of the present study to determine in the uterus of the sheep if prostaglandins are present, the levels during the normal estrous cycle and the effects of various treatments, which were known to alter luteal lifespan, on levels of prostaglandins.

Equivalence Of Personality Structure In Leary's Interpersonal System Of Diagnosis., James Leroy Truckenmiller Jan 1971

Equivalence Of Personality Structure In Leary's Interpersonal System Of Diagnosis., James Leroy Truckenmiller

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

The Leary system of interpersonal diagnosis was introduced in its entirety during 1957 as a descriptive alternative to traditional psychiatric assessment involving interpersonal behavior. It attempts to provide a conceptual and measurement framework by removing rating discrepancies among data sources from the realm of undesirable distortions vis-a-vis "True" traits, and by relating these discrepancies to processes such as conflict and identification in an operational fashion. The basic premise supporting operational definitions such as conflict and identification requires that the structural interrelations of interpersonal variables be similar regardless of the data source from which obtained. If this premise were to hold, …

Sporological Evidence On The Geological Age Of The Dunkard Strata In The Appalachian Basin., John Albert Clendening Jan 1970

Sporological Evidence On The Geological Age Of The Dunkard Strata In The Appalachian Basin., John Albert Clendening

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

The primary purpose of the present study has been to establish palynological evidence on the geological age of the Dunkard strata, a subject of debate for at least 90 years. During this time the popular inclination has been to accept the age as Permian without serious question. The present study of fossil spores and pollen substantiates an Upper Pennsylvanian rather than a Permian age for the entire sequence of strata called the Dunkard Group.

The Effect Of Varying Racial Composition During Group Counseling Undertaken To Improve Intergroup Attitude Among Elementary School Children., Finis Edsel Dew

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

The purpose of this study was (l) to determine if negro and white elementary school children counseled in groups will make a significant improvement in intergroup attitude when compared to groups of similar conposition who engage in contact activities only; and (2) to investigate the effect, if any, that manipulating the racial composition of groups of elementary school children engaged in group counseling will have on the outcome of the groups with respect to intergroup attitude.

The Strength And Stiffness Of Steel Deck Subjected To In-Plane Loading., Duane Scott Ellifritt Jan 1970

The Strength And Stiffness Of Steel Deck Subjected To In-Plane Loading., Duane Scott Ellifritt

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

Steel deck is widely used in the floors and roofs of steel framed structures to support gravity loads. In addition, it can effectively resist in-plane shear loading when properly connected to a structural steel framework and can help to brace a building against lateral forces. This feature of steel deck floors and roofs has long been recognized but, with few exceptions, designers have not been able to take advantage of it because design formulas have not been available. This investigation was undertaken for the purpose of evaluating the performance of wide, narrow, and intermediate rib decks when used as shear-resistant …

A Study Of The Perceptions That Parents, Community Leaders And Elementaryteachers Have Of The Role Of The Public Elementary School Teacher., Richard Paul Peltonen

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not three important groups of citizens of Morgantown, West Virginia, consisting of public elementary school teachers, parents, and community leaders, differed significantly from each other in respect to their prescriptive and descriptive perceptions of the position of the public elementary school teacher. This study tested the following hypotheses: 1. No significant differences will exist when the three populations are compared on the basis of the way they perceive the four prescriptive roles of the elementary school teacher. 2. There will be significant differences between the elementary school teachers and the …

Anxiety Control As A Function Of Instructional Modifications In Paired-Associate Learning., Jean Beverly Peltonen Jan 1969

Anxiety Control As A Function Of Instructional Modifications In Paired-Associate Learning., Jean Beverly Peltonen

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

The purpose of this study is to test the anxietyinhibiting effects of two modifications in traditional instructions for paired-associate learning. It will be assumed that effective anxiety-inhibition will be evidenced by a significant decline in the number of trials required for subjects to arrive at a common learning criterion. Tha two instructional modifications to be tested ara specifically: (1) Requiring subjects to delay responding aloud for an established number of list presentations (as opposed to permitting immediate responses), and (2) Informing subjects that capable individuals frequently experience considerable frustration before mastering the task with which they will be presented.

Mechanical Properties Of The Head, Richard Lynn Stalnaker Jan 1969

Mechanical Properties Of The Head, Richard Lynn Stalnaker

Graduate Theses, Dissertations, and Problem Reports (ETD)

The purpose of this research is to provide basic information hitherto unavailable concerning the mechanical responses of the whole head and brain considered as a system. The long range goals of this program are to develop suitable instrumentation and experimental techniques that can be utilized in the development of a material candidate for substitution of brain in an artificial head, and methods of comparing the overall responses of the artificial head with those of a human head.
