Polynomial Expansions For Excitation Strengths, J. P. Draayer, J. B. French, V. Potbhare, S. S.M. Wong

Rapidly convergent expansions for the strength function of an excitation in a many-particle model space are given in terms of orthogonal polynomials defined by the state or partial state densities of the system. Convergence is assured in a wide range of circumstances by the operation of a central limit theorem. Level-to-level fluctuations are in many cases small, their automatic elimination in the statistical smoothing generated by truncating the series then leading to only small errors. © 1975.

Conifer Wood From The Upper Jurassic Of Utah; I, Xenoxylon Morrisonense Sp. Nov., William D. Tidwell, David A. Medlyn

A new species of conifer wood, Xenoxylon morrisonense, is described from the Morrison Formation on the Colorado Plateau. It is compared with other species of Xenoxylon, with X. latiporosum being the closest. Xenoxylon morrisonense differs from X. latiporosum in its marked indentations, simple pits on the horizontal and tangential walls of ray cells, absence of crassulae, presence of wood parenchyma, and thin borders on podocarpoid type crossfield pits. The origin of the septa in the tracheids is summarized, and the possible affinity of Xenoxylon with the Podocarpaceae is considered.

The Development And Analysis Of Base Line Data For The Estimation Of Incidence In The Handicapped School Age Population, Patricia Craig, Norman Mceachron

The purpose of this study was, first, to examine and critique the more popular incidence sources for handicapping conditions in the school age population, and second, to establish reasonably reliable base line data on which the future analysis of special population groups can be grounded. On the basis of this study, we suggest that the National Center of Health Statistics estimates become the primary source for further analysis due to both their reliability and comparability. It is questionable whether these figures could be refined further by conducting an independent national survey of school children. Data reliability is important, since even …

Adults and larvae of Nosodendron californicum Horn were observed and collected from sap exudations on and adjacent to frost cracks of Abiesgrandis (Douglas) Lindley. This is the first published record of this species in Idaho and east of the Cascade Range in the Pacific Northwest.

Over the past 20 years in which videotape technology has been commercially available, considerable literature has offered encouragement and advice concerning its general educational applications. More recently, a developing body of literature, materials, and practices has brought videotape to the attention of legal educators. One of the chief impediments to realization of the full potential of videotape in legal education, however, is the lack of an adequate description of the necessary facilities and electronic equipment. Pigeons obtained food by making four responses on three keys in a specified sequence, e.g., left, right, center, right. Under the “tandem‐learning” condition, all three keys were the same color throughout the response sequence, and the sequence was changed from session to session. After total errors per session (overall accuracy) and within‐session error reduction (learning) had stabilized, the effects of varying doses of phenobarbital and chlordiazepoxide were assessed. For comparison, the drug tests were also conducted under a “performance” condition, in which the response sequence was the same from session to session, and under corresponding “chain‐learning” and “chain‐performance” conditions, where …

It is shown that if [FORMULA PRESENTED]; 0 and x are fixed, then the function ptf defined by [FORMULA PRESENTED] for h in H is infinitely Gross differentiable at x. The first two derivatives are given by [FORMULA PRESENTED], where h and k are in H. Moreover, [FORMULA PRESENTED] is a Hilbert-Schmidt operator and [FORMULA PRESENTED]. The Impact Of Suburbanization On Fluvial Geomorphology, William L. Graf

Analysis of aerial photography for the period 1950–1971 and field data collected from 1970 to 1974 indicate that in the Denver area suburban development has caused significant changes in fluvial systems. By first introducing large quantities of sediment and later by increasing surface runoff, suburban development leads to an expansion of floodplains followed by downcutting of streams. As areas of suburban development increase, greater percentages of stream lengths are dominated by transportation, and lesser percentages are dominated by erosion and deposition.

The research project was designed to provide data pertaining to performance tasks in specific occupations in various areas of vocational/technical education. The data presented in the document is intended to be used to develop appropriate objectives and curricular content to assist in the preparation of individuals entering the specific photo-offset lithography occupations of layout man; paste-up man; lithographic cameraman; stripper; platemaker; and offset pressman. The paper reviews about 25 major studies printed since 1920; and in turn; these refer to some 75 other studies about rural churches; their location; numbers; ministers; denominational arrangements; and supporting population per church on a county level. On the role of rural social science in Theological education; one study reports that the pastor is not only a man of God but a man of knowledge; not only in theological but in all fields of study. Electrochemical Reduction Of Molybdate In The Presence Of Zinc Chloride In Molten Lithium Chloride-Potassium Chloride Eutectic, R. Cvetkovic, Branko N. Popov, H. A. Laitinen

Two chronopotentiometric waves were observed for the electrochemical reduction of molybdate in the presence of zinc chloride, with quarter-wave potentials of –1.5V and –1.75V vs. the Pt(II)/Pt reference electrode, respectively. It was observed that an increase in the molybdate concentration causes a decrease of the first transition time indicating a chemical reaction between ZnCl2 (which is reduced at –1.5V) and Li2MoO4 in the melt forming ZnMoO4 which is sparingly dissociated in LiCl-KCl eutectic. The equilibrium constant for the observed reaction was calculated. X-ray powder diffraction patterns of the reduction product of ZnMoO4 have been …
