It is not unusual for owners of real property to wish to conceal from government or the public either the fact of their ownership or certain salient characteristics of the property they hold. The objective of this article is to consider the extent to which this desire for secrecy is supported by sound policy and American legal doctrine. It will focus on the civil recourse available to an owner of real property against private persons who, without the owner's knowledge and consent, reveal information about the ownership or physical characteristics of the property. Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Characterization Of Heme Disorder In Hemoproteins, G. N. La Mar, D. L. Budd, D. B. Viscio, K. M. Smith, K. C. Langry

A proton NMR method is described for determining the orientation of a porphyrin within the heme pocket of a hemoprotein. The pattern of the hyperfine-shifted heme methyl resonances in low-spin ferric model compounds is demonstrated to characteristically reflect the position of a localized low-symmetry perturbation on the π system. The specific assignments via deuteration of the two inconvertible sets of methyl resonances observed for deuteroporphyrin-reconstituted sperm whale metmyoglobin cyanide lead to the conclusion that the low-symmetry perturbations on the heme due to the apoprotein components by a 180°rotation about the α-γ meso axis. Trends In Mortality From Cerebrovascular Diseases In The United States, 1960 To 1975, Ivan Soltero, Kiang Liu, Richard Cooper, Jeremiah Stamler, Dan Garside

A long-term decline in death rates from cerebrovascular diseases in the United States accelerated in 1969, with a further increase in the rate of decline after 1972. This break in the pattern of the mortality curve for stroke was observed in all 4 major sex-color groups, and affected all age groups in which a significant number of stroke deaths occur. The decline for non-whites was relatively and absolutely greater than for the comparable white sex. If the 1960 rates had persisted in 1975, 87,600 more lives would have been lost to cerebrovascular diseases. Although there are no data documenting a …

Estimating Individual Feed Intake Of Group-Fed Steers By Modified Weighing Design, D. E. Franke, T. C. Cartwright, R. L. Ott

An experimental design for estimation of feed intake of individual animals fed in pairs or groups is discussed. Procedures are given to compute 95% confidence intervals of estimates. The accuracy a researcher needs for experimentation will suggest whether he can successfully utilize this procedure for estimation of feed intake of individual animals. Disadvantages of the design appear to be related to numbers of replicates required when large numbers of animals are involved. © 1978, American Dairy Science Association. All rights reserved.

The Proposed Ohio Rules Of Evidence: The General Assembly, Evidence, And Rulemaking, Paul C. Giannelli

The Ohio Supreme Court has twice promulgated and the Ohio General Assembly has twice disapproved the proposed Ohio Rules of Evidence. Moreover, the office of the Attorney General has opposed the proposed Rules in an article published in this review. The author examines the arguments against the Rules and concludes that the supreme court has the constitutional authority to prescribe most rules of evidence and that the General Assembly should accept the proposed Rules with amendments.

Approximately four months after President Ford signed into law the Trade Act of 1974,1 the first petition for import relief was filed invoking the "liberalized" provisions of Title II.2 In the three years since the effective date of the 1974 Act, the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) has instituted investigations concerning a wide variety of commodities. 3 Nonetheless, even though Congress by enacting the 1974 Act intended to minimize the President's control over trade policy and to make import relief more accessible to both industry and labor, the lTC's recommendations have rarely been followed. The young child learns patriotism through music; art; games; and dramatic activities. Concepts in history (names; dates; events) geography; and civics are introduced through specific activities. The media are used as a source of information. Art activities; listening to original stories; musical activities; pantomime; and role playing provide opportunities for creativity development. Methods for interrelating the various subjects are detailed. Cognitive goals include: (1) the name and location of the United States; (2) why the Revolutionary War was fought; (3) the purpose of the U.S. Constitution; (4) the names of the founding fathers; (5) how life during the colonial era …

War broke out between the white settlers of Utah and the Ute Indians in 1865. Before the whites could gather for better defense, the Ute Indians struck a house made of willows in 1865. All six members of the Given family were killed, and they were all buried in a the same wagon box in the Fairview, Utah, Cemetery.

Does Article V Restrict The States To Calling Unlimited Conventions Only? - A Letter To A Colleague, William W. Van Alstyne

From time to time, various state legislatures have adopted resolutions designed to require Congress to call a limited convention in which one or another possible amendments to the Constitution might be proposed. In 1967, thirty-two states, two short of the requisite two-thirds filed such resolutions requesting a convention for the purpose of considering an amendment to "overrule" the Supreme Court's principal reapportionment decisions. In 1971, Senator Ervin of North Carolina introduced a bill to provide guidelines to be followed upon a state call for a convention. This year, approximately twenty-eight states have adopted some kind of resolution for the purpose …

Although experimental verification of Onsager's reciprocal relations has been achieved in a variety of cases, no quantitative test of the heat-mass reciprocal relation for a binary liquid system has previously been reported. We present in this communication experimental proof of the equality of the mass-heat reciprocal relation for the system carbon tetrachloride - cyclohezane.

Ferromagneticlike Resonance Behavior In Superfluid 3he-B, Richard A. Webb

Nonlinear cw NMR behavior, similar to that observed on ferromagnets at high rf powers, has been observed in superfluid 3He-B using a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer in fields of 31, 102, 180, and 308 Oe and at a pressure of 21 bar. It is observed that beyond some threshold value of the transverse H1 field the z component of magnetization anomalously decreases and is followed by a rapid increase back to the normal resonance curve as the frequency of the H1 field is swept through resonance.
