An Analysis Of The Socioeconomic Factors Associated With Changing Numbers Of Farm Units In South Dakota, Keith A. Carter
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This research study is not investigating the reasons that particular farm operators sell their farm units. The major focus of this study is to explain the change in the number of farm units by investigating changes in other socioeconomic factors. Thus, the problem to be studies in this research can be stated in question form as follows: What is the magnitude and variation of change in the number of farm unites by county in South Dakota, and the socio-economic factors are associated with this change in the number of farm units?
Effects Of Self-Hypnosis Training Sessions On Pre-Competition Anxiety Levels Of Collegiate Wrestlers, Michael Ernest Engels
Effects Of Self-Hypnosis Training Sessions On Pre-Competition Anxiety Levels Of Collegiate Wrestlers, Michael Ernest Engels
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Members of the athletic coaching profession have long been concerned with obtaining the maximum physical and mental performance from their athletes. This concern has been evidenced through the many studies that have been completed involving methods of enhancing motor performance. Research finding from these studies have influenced changes in training programs and ways of preparing for athletic competition, but these changes have been concerned with primarily with physical development. Although being ready physically is very important for maximum performance, it is not the only factor to be considered. Mental conditioning also plays an important role in the success of any …
Computer Simulation Model Of The Immune Response Of Mice To Western Equine Encephalitis (Wee) Computer Simulation Model Of The Immune Response Of Mice To Western Equine Encephalitis (Wee) Virusirus, Gilbert Chi Kuna Ho
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The lymphatic system of an animal is optimally developed to protect the body from antigenic invasion. The epithelial and subepithelial compartments of the body are provided with a vast number of wandering cells and a network of centralized lymphorecticular tissues. All of these are capable of reacting to intruding foreign antigens. Upon antigentic challenge, immunocompetent cells (ICC) or antigen specific lymphocytes are activated; this leads either to cell mediated and/or humoral antibody immune responses. The subsequent effect is an accumulation of the responding cells, both by local proliferation and recruitment from the circulation. Through the interaction of both cellular and …

Nucleophilic Substitution At Phosphorus: Phosphate Thioesters, Ronnie L. Wilde
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
It was my objective to try to determine the mechanism of nucleophilic substitution at phosphorus in monothiophosphate triesters and to apply what I learn to the other phosphate systems. I also tried to obtain more data to show that the Lewis acid-base type complex through the phosphoryl oxygen is existent and does influence the reaction.
Breeding Waterfowl Populations In South Dakota, Wayne G. Brewster
Breeding Waterfowl Populations In South Dakota, Wayne G. Brewster
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Breeding waterfowl in South Dakota were censused on 500 legal quarter sections within 125 clusters representing a proportional stratified random sample of 0.16 percent of the state area. Two breeding pair counts, one in May and second in June, were conducted each year on the sample units in 1973 and 1974. Densities of total breeding pairs averaged 5.58 and 2.30 pairs per km2 in 1973 and 1974, respectively. Estimated populations based upon these densities were 1,067,500 breeding pairs in 1973 and 439,600 breeding pairs in 1974. The 58.8 percent decrease in the population occurred concurrently with intensification of drought conditions …

Henry Whitestone : Nineteenth-Century Louisville Architect., Elizabeth Fitzpatrick Jones 1943-
Henry Whitestone : Nineteenth-Century Louisville Architect., Elizabeth Fitzpatrick Jones 1943-
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Henry Whitestone (1819-1893) practiced architecture in the nineteenth century when the prevailing mode in architectural styles was a series of historical revivals. His work, with few exceptions, was entirely within the style of the Italian Renaissance Revival. The present study is an investigation of the historical styles he used and their probable sources, his place in the architectural milieu of the era and of Louisville, and a description of his life, his practice and his clients. In accomplishing these goals much new source material, heretofore unknown, has been used. Whitestone was extremely careful and exacting; he expected and received excellent …
Effects Of Land Disposal Of Pulp Mill Effluents On Plant Nutrient Uptake And Element Balance, Joseph B. Schwarzback
Effects Of Land Disposal Of Pulp Mill Effluents On Plant Nutrient Uptake And Element Balance, Joseph B. Schwarzback
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
An analysis of the soil and plant tissues was undertaken to ascertain the effect that land irrigation with pulp mill effluent has on nutrient uptake and element balance of tree seedlings. Results show that the effluent significantly increased the sodium content of both soil and tissue; however, these levels fell far below the level necessary to become detrimental to plant life, soil chemistry and soil structure. There was evidence that the increase of elements from the effluent provided positive effects in growth and plant health. There was no evidence of sodium toxicity or calcium starvation. Evidence clearly points out the …
