The Relationships Among Leadership Behaviors Of Leaders In Training Organizations, Training Methods, And Organization Profitability, Joseph D. Keith
The Relationships Among Leadership Behaviors Of Leaders In Training Organizations, Training Methods, And Organization Profitability, Joseph D. Keith
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Business organizations are decreasing funding for training. The problem investigated in this study was to determine if there was a relationship among the leadership behavior of training leaders, the use of newer methods of training, and organizational profitability. A sample of 57 organizations from the Fortune 500 was surveyed to determine leadership behavior and the use of newer methods of training. The Leadership Practices Inventory was used to measure leadership and the Affective Communication Test was used to measure charisma. Profitability data were obtained from the literature. Return on assets, return on equity, the Moody's Corporate Bond Rating, and the …

Assessing Students' Gains From The College Experience At East Tennessee State University, Ramona A. Williams
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to determine what activities from the ETSU experience influence students' opinions about their growth and development. This study also examined the influence of sex, age, and classification in college. Three research questions and five hypotheses were examined. The Third Edition of the College Student Experiences Questionnaire (CSEQ) was the instrument used in this study. The CSEQ was administered to 50 undergraduate classes at East Tennessee State University during the Spring Semester 1994. There were 19 independent variables and five dependent variables in this study. The 19 independent variables included students' scores on the 14 …
A Model Of Training For Outreach To Soldiers At Fort Lewis, Washington, Who Are Inactive Members Of The Churches Of Christ, Mark A. Henry
A Model Of Training For Outreach To Soldiers At Fort Lewis, Washington, Who Are Inactive Members Of The Churches Of Christ, Mark A. Henry
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Over one hundred and sixty soldiers at Fort Lewis identify themselves as members of the Churches of Christ. Less than twenty-five of these soldiers are involved in any religious activity. In order to reach out effectively to the remaining soldiers, the concerned church members who were interested in this ministry required training. The problem for this project/thesis was to design and implement a model of training for outreach to inactive members of the Churches of Christ at Fort Lewis, Washington.
Water Quality Of East Texas Streams: Forested Versus Pastured Watersheds Receiving Poultry Litter Applications, Mark Craig Cochran
Water Quality Of East Texas Streams: Forested Versus Pastured Watersheds Receiving Poultry Litter Applications, Mark Craig Cochran
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Water quality and stream discharge were monitored at six sites on two Nacogdoches County, Texas streams over a nine month period (March - November 1995). Three sites were located in forested watersheds and the other three sites were downstream of pastured watersheds surface-applied with poultry litter, a potential nonpoint source of pollution. Stream water samples were analyzed for Ca, K, Mg, Na, 03-N ,TKN, P04-P, TP, TSS, pH, and dissolved oxygen. A rapid bioassessment was conducted to assess aquatic life stream conditions. Half of the 273 stream samples had nitrate-nitrogen concentrations greater than 0.30 mg L-1 high enough to support …
The Principal As Minister : A Reflective Study Of The Prophetic And Pastoral Components Of The Principalship., Janet Mcwilliams Calvert 1948-
The Principal As Minister : A Reflective Study Of The Prophetic And Pastoral Components Of The Principalship., Janet Mcwilliams Calvert 1948-
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The need for moral leadership in schools compels us to seek new models for school leadership. This self-study captures the actual experience of a beginning principal using a reflective practitioner methodology in an effort to explore the "principal as minister" metaphor. The purpose of the study is to discover the similarities and differences between the role of a principal and a minister in a particular school setting and in the context of one principal's experience. Stories and vignettes of the first year and a half of the principalship were written using the participant observer lens. Reflection on the applicability and …

Early Life History Of Yellow Perch In Eastern South Dakota Lakes, Shannon Fisher
Early Life History Of Yellow Perch In Eastern South Dakota Lakes, Shannon Fisher
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Yellow perch Perea flavescens are a popular South Dakota sportfish; however, inconsistent recruitment creates highly variable and unpredictable perch fishery quality. Before fishery managers can begin to develop and assess strategies to stabilize yellow perch recruitment, a better understanding of their early life history is required. I selected two natural lakes with differing yellow perch population types and monitored brood stock, spawning habits, and larval and juvenile life history patterns during 1995 and 1996. Pelican Lake was selected as a representative yellow perch population exhibiting inconsistent recruitment and Pickerel Lake as a population with relatively consistent recruitment. Yellow perch tended …
Effects Of Wind Turbines On Nongame Birds In Conservation Reserve Program Grasslands In Southwestern Minnesota, Krecia L. Leddy
Effects Of Wind Turbines On Nongame Birds In Conservation Reserve Program Grasslands In Southwestern Minnesota, Krecia L. Leddy
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
One concern of wind power development for electrical energy generation has been the potential for bird collisions with wind turbines. The effects of wind turbines on nongame bird composition and density in Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) grasslands was evaluated in summer 1995 along Buffalo Ridge in southwestern Minnesota. Bird density in CRP fields with wind turbines was compared with that found in cropland, pastureland, woodland, and CRP grasslands without the presence of wind turbines. Bird species composition and density were determined within fixed width (40 m) transects. Nongame bird species richness and density were greater in woodlands and CRP grasslands …
An Examination Of Selected Ethnic Foodways In The Upper Midwest, Gregory A. Mader
An Examination Of Selected Ethnic Foodways In The Upper Midwest, Gregory A. Mader
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Many geographers recognize regional studies as a guidepost of geography. Cultural geographers have long identified the significance of ethnic regions and the differences between various ethnic groups in matters of housing, work, agriculture and diet. In many cases foodways and regional cuisine are distinct enough to act as a key identifier of a cultural region. This thesis uses church and other local cookbooks to identify specific ethnic and non - ethnic foods eaten by the Dutch of Northwestern Iowa, the Norwegians of the North Dakota-Minnesota border area, and the German-Russians of Southern North Dakota. From this source of information, patterns …
Pain Management: South Dakota Advanced Prepared Nurses' And Physicians' Knowledge, Attitudes, And Perceived Barriers, Rebecca B. Reed
Pain Management: South Dakota Advanced Prepared Nurses' And Physicians' Knowledge, Attitudes, And Perceived Barriers, Rebecca B. Reed
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
The most common reason patients seek health care is for the relief of pain. One of the most important roles health care providers serve is to assist patients in achieving comfort. The literature documents pain is inadequately managed as a result of inadequate knowledge, attitudes, and potential barriers. Advanced prepared nurses (APNs) and physicians engage in professions that demand safeguarding and protecting the health of patients. APNs and physicians have an ethical duty to provide collaborative, interdisciplinary pain management to patients.
This study described the knowledge, attitudes, and perceived barriers of South Dakota APNs and physicians in regard to selected …
