An Empirical Investigation Of The Significant Others Concept, Eugene Gilbert Peniston

Social Distance Correlates: Religiosity, Education, And Personality, Jeanne C. Bigger Jan 1962

Social Distance Correlates: Religiosity, Education, And Personality, Jeanne C. Bigger

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Equal access to social privileges for all men is a right that has been overtly defended in America, but a right which has not always been fully maintained in practice. Ethnicity has provided obstacles to harmonious intergroup relations when associated with prejudice. The church and the school have been expected to take the lead in combating intolerance, but investigations of the role of religiosity among prejudiced and tolerant subjects have raised a question as to the effectives of religious training. If the use made of religious belief is determined by the individual’s psychological needs, it may be that personality characteristics …

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

In this study of disturbed and maladjusted Indian children, the author hoped to show that there is a need for more knowledge in this field, that there is an increase in the number of emotionally upset Indian children, and that the socio-economic structure of the home area is a contributing factor in the problem. The results of a questionnaire showed that other workers with Indian youth did indeed feel that there are a large number of disturbed and maladjusted Indian children in many areas where Indian citizens comprise a high percentage of the general population such as many areas in …

This thesis developed a test for rating employees’ attitudes toward the printing industry. The attitude scale developed in this study was experimentally tested for its reliability and validity on the printers in Fresno, California. The Design And Development Of An Automatic Guiding System For A Tractor, Ali A. Hamidi Jan 1961

The Design And Development Of An Automatic Guiding System For A Tractor, Ali A. Hamidi

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

Mechanization and Automation are very fashionable words in present day Agriculture. Both imply a reduction in the amount of human effort necessary to achieve certain ends, and to accept the need for either of them is to assume that it will lead to some financial gain. Automation as applied to Agriculture is to improve many limited factors which affect the final yield of any agricultural crop. One of these factors, the mechanical operation, requires considerable care and attention to more nearly insure maximum yield and high quality. Numerous methods have been adopted through research and development to minimize field losses …

The Effect Of A Weight Training Program Upon Strength And Trunk Flexibility Of Football Players At South Dakota State College, David H. Greenwood

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

In the past several years, the use of progressive resistance exercises has increased to the point where it is widely accepted as one of the best methods of increasing strength. The popularization of such exercises has brought about the establishment of weight training programs by football coaches for the purpose of increasing strength between seasons. To effectively increase strength through such exercises, proper methods must be maintained. The use of improper methods of exercise may result in an increase in endurance, where an increase in strength is desired. Weight training is an ideal form of exercise for the development of …

A Comparison Of Criteria Favored For Promotion By Employers With Criteria Favored For Promotion By Employees In The Printing Industry Of Baton Rouge, La., Mitchell Albert

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

This study was undertaken because the investigator, being an instructor in the graphic arts, was very much concerned with the opportunities for young people aspiring to enter the printing industry. The investigator had often been confronted with questions concerning reward in printing for ambitious and promising young men who entered the field. Answers given were not always completely satisfactory of students or the investigator, and attempts to become familiar with the subject proved to be unsuccessful. Preliminary research showed that the industrial promotions in general received some attention, but no literature was found that dealt with the printing industry and …

A Statistical Study Of The Relationship Of The American Council On Education Psychological Examination Scores And High School Rank To Future College Success, Duane Francis Ommen

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

There is a present need to use our facilities for higher education with efficiency. More selective and efficient criteria are needed on which to base admissions to college. For several years, the American Council on Education Psychological Examination (A.C.E.) and High School Rank have been used as admission criteria at South Dakota State College. Though these two admission indices have been sued for a number of years, no precise standards have been set, based on the larger schools. The present study is being written in an attempt to determine the value of the A.C.E. and the student’s rank in high …
