On Site Healthcare, Amy Roden
On Site Healthcare, Amy Roden
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
A productive workforce and retention of employees is an essential part of a company’s reputation and elevation of the company to be the best to the workforce. Healthy and present employees are a key to this productive workforce. Transient workers in the pipeline construction are away from their families and loved ones and can struggle to stay healthy and find quality healthcare while working long hours multiple days a week. Employers on these job sites can help their employees by providing onsite healthcare. The research shows there is a lack of healthcare providers available, especially in more rural areas. The …
The Effects Of Variations Of Victim Impact Statements On Juror Bias, Emily Sutton
The Effects Of Variations Of Victim Impact Statements On Juror Bias, Emily Sutton
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Victim impact statements (VIS) are federally protected statements describing the physical, emotional, and financial impact of a crime on a victim. States can decide the content and timing of the VIS, resulting in much variation. Previous research has found an effect of these variations on mock juror bias in capital trials. The current study examined if variations such as changing the strength of emotion, crime type, and including sentencing recommendation within a VIS affects the judgements of mock jurors. The results showed the sexual assault VIS produced higher guilt ratings and longer sentences. Furthermore, the inclusion of a high sentencing …
Chroma Cowboy, Jessica Gryder
Chroma Cowboy, Jessica Gryder
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Chroma Cowboy consists of eleven canvases wrapped in used feed sacks layered with vinyl to create brightly colored narrative scenes. Pulling from Pop Art colors, cubism shapes and a consciousness of materials, I designed this body of work to give the hard-working cowboys, ranchers, and agribusinesses a way to have their stories told to a larger audience. The strain on ranches due to generational changes, politics and environmental circumstances makes it even more important to document this way of life. I strive to further advance and inform the general public’s knowledge of the unyielding lifestyle and dedication that it takes …
Bloom: A 21st Century Mandolin Concerto, Ashley Hoyer
Bloom: A 21st Century Mandolin Concerto, Ashley Hoyer
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
I have created a career performing various types of music on the mandolin. Very little of the concert repertoire, however, includes music originally written for the mandolin with most of it consisting of rearrangements of violin, cello, or piano music. This observation has led me down a path to learn why there is a lack of mandolin concert repertoire as well as to create new music specifically written for the instrument. In this thesis, an original mandolin concerto, Bloom, aims not only to add to the instrument’s repertoire, but bring it into the twenty-first century using contemporary compositional techniques. I …
Computational Fluid Dynamics Model Of Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy., Olivia Cooney
Computational Fluid Dynamics Model Of Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy., Olivia Cooney
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a procedure that targets abdominal tumors in the intraperitoneal space. During the procedure, chemotherapy heated to 40-43oC is cycled through the abdomen for 1 to 2 hours. Although a majority of studies have focused on clinical outcomes, the dynamics of the intra-abdominal flow remain poorly understood. Consequently, it has been difficult to gauge the tumor targeting efficacy, which depends critically on temperature and chemotherapy flow rates. This study establishes a computational framework to evaluate the dynamics of fluid flow during HIPEC, with the goal to enable optimization of tumor drug exposure. A computer …

An Examination Of The Career Trajectory Of Black Female Pastors In The Black Church, Genesis Wyne Player
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
This research is a qualitative narrative inquiry of the career trajectory of Black female pastors in the Black church. Historically, the Black church has been a vital symbol of the Black community and a haven for its members. However, because the Black church is undergirded in Black liberation theology to fight the oppression of Blacks, it continues to oppress Black female pastors by not allowing them the same opportunities as their Black male counterparts when their qualifications are the same. In this study, the researcher aimed to understand Black female pastors’ perceptions of their success in breaking the stained-glass ceiling …

Exploring The Lived Experiences Of Women Superintendents In Texas, Louisiana, And Mississippi, Lakeyshure Washington-Marzell
Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Abstract
A qualitative phenomenological study examined the challenges and barriers women superintendents encountered in their quest for and service as superintendents in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Women make up most teaching positions today, but men dominate the superintendent’s office. A correlation should exist between the number of women teachers and the number of women leaders. However, women account for less than one-quarter of superintendents in the United States, while men occupy most positions. A qualitative research design was employed to gain a deeper understanding of the problem. After gathering information from research participants, I performed an interpretative phenomenological analysis to …
