Physical education has been accepted by the majority of institutions of higher learning as an integral part in the college curriculum. The physical education instructor has a major task of guiding the individual student as a person whose feelings, attitudes, knowledge, skills, understandings, and values are influenced by his physical education experience. Physical education instructors have placed great emphasis on the learning of skills in a physical education class and during the learning of a skill there are many other learning experiences taking place that are overlooked. Physical education in our schools is perhaps the least standardized of all the various curricula. Mobridge, South Dakota, is a town of approximately 4,400 residents located beside the Missouri River in the north central part of the state. Mobridge is a progressive city and has shown its interest in the physical and social well-being of its citizens. Physical education is an integral and vital part of education. It is necessary to evaluate any existing program of physical education periodically to reexamine the aims and objectives and to make certain that the needs, interests, and abilities of individual students are actually …
