This thesis examines hunting in Mississippi with regard to the changing relationship between humans and their environment. Hunting is the basic human interaction with nature. It is timeless activity, yet at the same time an activity deeply impacted by the human relation to the land.

In approaching the change in hunting this thesis examined human population change by reviewing the demographic consequences of the rural exodus in addition to the response of animal populations to the human exodus and to the restocking efforts of wildlife biologists. The beef industry in South Dakota is an important component of the state's agricultural economy. South Dakota beef producers market approximately 2.0 million head of cattle and calves annually with value in excess of 1.2 billion dollars in 1984. This revenue represents over 60 percent of total livestock receipts for the state and over 35 percent of total agricultural sales. In 1985, South Dakota cattle gross income was over $1,336 million. The significance of South Dakota cattle production is further demonstrated by a national ranking of fifth in beef cows that calved and ninth in total production of cattle and …

The purpose of this study was to write a comprehensive historical analysis of compulsory education in the United States from its inception in the colonies through 1984. The study attempts to analyze the elements of the origin, developments, and trends. The majority of the primary sources of this historical study were literary and were taken from numerous sources including United States Supreme Court decisions, congressional legislation, opinions of the Attorney Generals of the United States and various states. Many attempts have been made to elucidate the various mechanism by which phosphates act in biological and other systems. There are many suggestions regarding mechanisms all of which fit into one of two broad categories. 1. Associative. 2. Dissociative. Of these two, interest to the associative type displacement has been of most investigators and this pathway has been established with certainty. The purpose of this study was to determine if the National Middle School Association (NMSA) has been consistent with its written purposes, organizational structure, administrative leadership, publications, conferences, finances, and membership. An investigation was made of NMSA's records from its inception in 1970 through 1980. Personal and telephone interviews were conducted with leaders of NMSA. Presently, Brookings, South Dakota, has two radio stations: KESD-FM, a public broadcasting station, and KBRK AM-KGKG FM, a commercial station. This study is concerned with KBRK-KGKG and its development in the historic milieu of radio broadcasting. While many studies have been done on historical radio, both on the Master’s and PH.D levels, in other areas of the United States, only one has been completed on a South Dakota station.
