The Promised Davidic King In The Books Of Jeremiah, Ezekiel, And Zechariah 1-8, Ian Key Shelburne Aug 1991

The Promised Davidic King In The Books Of Jeremiah, Ezekiel, And Zechariah 1-8, Ian Key Shelburne

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

One of the most painful features of Judah's exile in the early sixth century B.C. was the interruption of the Davidic dynasty. The prophet Jeremiah predicted not only the fall of Jerusalem and its king but also the future rise of a legitimate Davidic scion (the "shoot" to be raised for David). Like Jeremiah, Ezekiel called the king of Judah (Zedekiah) to account for his spiritual unfaithfulness and contrasted the godly character of a future Davidic ruler with the wickedness of contemporary Judahite leaders.

Students' Perceptions Of Native And Non-Native English Speaking Graduate Teaching Assistants (Gtas), Florence Louise Ouzts

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

This study investigated students' perceptions of native English speaking (NES) and non-native English speaking (NNES) graduate teaching assistants (GTAs). A total of 69 GTAs teaching in the Spring and Summer semesters of 1990 at selected Southern universities participated in the study. The primary aim of this research was to determine if students' ratings of GTAs were general or cultural specific and to identify specific student-trait variables that potentially might bias students' ratings of NNES GTAs. It was hypothesized that the more acculturated the NNES GTAs were to the American university setting the more favorable would be the students' ratings of …

Perceptual Regions Of South Dakota, Steven L. Payton Jan 1991

Perceptual Regions Of South Dakota, Steven L. Payton

Electronic Theses and Dissertations

The state of South Dakota has been divided into many different regions. Some of these regions are the result of formal classification by professionals "such as geographers, geologists and pedologists, whereas others reflect the informal opinion of a layman or nonprofessional. Some distinctions exist, perhaps, for convenience, whereas others express a sense of pride and belonging in community or territory. Regardless of the motivation, the resulting perceptual regions are abstractions of space that illustrate how the residents of South Dakota interpret their environment. This paper is a cultural study. The objective of this study is to determine whether South Dakota …
