From Whence Cometh Her Strength, Janis E. Roberson
From Whence Cometh Her Strength, Janis E. Roberson
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
On May 29, 1851, Isabella Baumfree, a 54-year-old former slave, delivered the keynote address at the Women’s Convention in Akron, Ohio. Baumfree, better known as Sojourner Truth, could have focused her speech on the lashes grooved in her back, or her children she watched sold off into slavery. Yet her rallying cry came in the form of a simple question: “Ain’t I a woman?” Before gendered racial microaggressions had been defined, Sojourner Truth recognized that although she was a woman, she was not treated the same as non-Black women. There is no shortage of data on the deleterious effects of …

Creating Harmony Through A Unified Definition Of Discipleship, Dereck S. Jackson
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
It is difficult to function as one unified group in an association of churches where autonomy is central. The ninety-one churches that call Converge Northeast their association desire to start churches, strengthen them, and send people into the harvest field. However, this group of capable churches and leaders has been unable to sustain church health, lacking church growth. After bringing in new leadership, there has been a resurgence of relationship building and vision casting. What might this group of churches need to become vibrant disciple-making churches? Unity among autonomous churches will require that leaders are on the same page and …

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this transcendental phenomenology was to describe the shared experiences of MQ-9 instructor pilots who were considering discontinuing military service at the USAF’s MQ-9 FTU. Discontinuation of military service was defined as separation at the expiration of their Active Duty Service Commitment. The theories guiding this research were Vroom’s expectancy theory, as it connects the relationship between military members’ expectations from their employers and resultant attrition rates, and Herzberg et al.’s (1959) motivation-hygiene theory, as it explains the disconnect between a military member’s motivation, well-being, and work environment. This research followed a transcendental phenomenological design. Purposive and snowball …

Does The Use Of Home-Based Continuous Glucose Monitoring Devices In Adults With Diabetes Mellitus Improve Hemoglobin A1c Levels? An Integrative Review, Ophelia Dionne Gelispie Ansari
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The prevalence of diabetes continues to rise, but patients’ ability to obtain and maintain glycemic control remains a challenge. In 2017, complications from diabetes resulted in over $300 billion expenditures in lost productivity and medical costs. The nation’s approach to addressing this problem starts with acknowledging the benefits that continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) as an adjunct intervention could change the trajectory of both diabetic care outcomes and the national expenditures associated with poor glycemic control, which leads to the destruction of other cells such as those found in the heart, eyes, and kidneys. Moreover, CGM use has been associated with …
