Adult Perceptions Of The Experience Of Being Identified "Talented And Gifted" As Children: A Phenomenological Study, Bradford Summers
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This is a phenomenological study of adult perceptions of the experience of being identified "talented and gifted" as children. Data were gathered by transcribing the video recordings of adults who were students of the Talented and Gifted (TAG) education program in Fairfield, Ohio during 1978-1983. The phenomenological method was used to discover perceptions of a unique population of adults who shared life experiences during elementary and middle school. Analysis of the data resulted in the identification of four main themes: Growth, Interpersonal, Future, and Thankfulness. Three facilitating and three challenging subthemes were identified under each main theme. These were: Internal …
The Revitalization Process In A Small Rural Plateaued Southern Baptist Church, Rodney Merrill Sprayberry
The Revitalization Process In A Small Rural Plateaued Southern Baptist Church, Rodney Merrill Sprayberry
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
New Zion Baptist Church is a small Southern Baptist church in rural Northeast Texas. The church has been stagnant for approximately three decades. This project is a record of the journey that the pastor and people of NZBC have traveled towards revitalization. The researcher began this project intent on implementing a strategic plan. However about half-way through the process, after evaluating the culture of NZBC, an intentional shift in methodology occurred. NZBC is a small church and therefore not a rationally structured, task driven, goal oriented organization. Instead it is a relational, biological and organic community. Therefore the process of …
Transitioning The Local Church From A Rural To Suburban Context, Jeremy Paul Roberts
Transitioning The Local Church From A Rural To Suburban Context, Jeremy Paul Roberts
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
A review of current literature demonstrates that very little material is available to assist pastors and church leaders in transitioning their churches from a rural to suburban context. This project will serve as a tool to assist pastors in leading their churches to transition from a rural to suburban context. Based on demographic studies, an historical analysis, the development of a plan to move the church forward, analyzing potential disruptions, and seeing the end result of the rural to suburban transition, the goal of the project will be fulfilled.

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Middle grades are a time of transition and development. The purpose of this study was to provide evidence of the effectiveness of a community service-learning project as related to the specific development of leadership skills. The …
Designing A Program For The Assimilation Of New Members Into The Life And Ministry Of The Local Church, Douglas K. Tanner
Designing A Program For The Assimilation Of New Members Into The Life And Ministry Of The Local Church, Douglas K. Tanner
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The assimilation of new members into the mission of the local church is often unintentional and ineffective. Many churches do not recognize the great need to train new members to become ministers and missionaries, which carry on the work of the church. The purpose of this project is to briefly expose the need for an intentional assimilation program in a local church and provide a systematic methodology for developing an assimilation program along with a usable outline that can be modified for use by any church. The project will provide information necessary for any church to create its own new …

A Survey Of Church Growth Methods Used By Christian Churches In The Southeastern United States, E. Arlin Bolejack
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The development, distribution, reception and interpretation of a survey sent to selected Christian Churches/Churches of Christ in eight of the southeastern United States. The survey's purpose was to discover the church growth methods and philosophies used by these churches where the migration of the population from the northern states has increased the population in their areas. The survey was sent to churches that displayed at least a ten percent membership increase between 1985 and 1992. The data was reviewed to determine what these churches were doing and conclusions made on effective church growth methods.
