The purpose of this study was to investigate, compare and contrast the perceptions and expectations of second-semester freshmen in regard to several aspects of the campus environment at three church-related liberal arts colleges in western Michigan.
The review of the literature traced the origins and the development of private church-related higher education and outlined some rationale for the continuation of pluralism in American higher education. The review further indicated that church-related higher education appears to be caught in a period of self-doubt and uncertainty. This study represents an attempt to empirically test a theoretical model explicating the contingencies associated with stability and change in self-conceptions among highschool students. Specifically, this investigation is concerned with the cumulative and isolated impact of perceived parental, teacher, and peer expectations on student self-conceptions over time.
The basic postulate is that patterns of stability and change in self-conceptions are a function of the degree of perceived consistency in the expectations and evaluations of significant others. The data were supportive of the consistency model and suggest that some groups of significant others have a greater impact on the self-conceptualizing process …

The Problem
Introduction
The traditional philosophy that a college-or a university is an exclusive institution in which only highly selected individuals receive a concentrated training in the traditional liberal arts no longer exists. In America, for instance, as early as 1870, Harvard, the colonial college with a narrow curriculum, was transformed rather rapidly into a modern university with many new subjects and the elective system (Garrett, 1949). Also, since 1642, when the first entrance requirements were instituted for American higher education, a continuing debate has developed over what constitutes a sound curriculum for education. This research analyzes the Passenger Vehicle Interface of the street transit systems and presents applications for design optimization. The Passenger Vehicle Interface (PVI) is defined as the interaction between the passenger and vehicle elements of the street transit system.
Human observer and photographic studies were conducted in 17 cities in the United States and Canada to measure the time for queues of passengers to board various transit vehicles. The data were analyzed by considering seven factors that affect the Passenger Vehicle Interface: Human Factor, Modal Factor, Operating Practices, Operating Policies, Mobility, Climate and Weather, and Other System Elements. In this investigation, the deposition of suspensions in laminar flow in the entrance region of a channel and a diffuser was considered.
The particulate phase was considered to he under the action of the electric field force clue to electrostatic charges. In addition, a lift force acting on each particle at the wall arising from the fluid shear near the wall and an adhesive force between each particle and the wall due to the difference of the material properties for both particle and walls were considered as surface forces.
