Social-Emotional Learning: Effects On Teacher Attrition, Retention, And Self-Efficacy, Shawna M. Olney
Social-Emotional Learning: Effects On Teacher Attrition, Retention, And Self-Efficacy, Shawna M. Olney
Dissertations
The rise in teacher attrition rates have been examined since the 1970s (Croasmun et al., 2000). Teachers have reported leaving the profession early due to many factors, including salaries, student discipline, administrative support, parental involvement, working conditions, and lack of professional respect (Cochran-Smith, 2004; Hughes, 2012). Teachers have felt unprepared in dealing with the high demands of teaching, especially in handling student discipline (Thibodeaux et al., 2015). Up to 35% of teachers have reported leaving the profession based on their difficulties with student discipline (Schonert-Reichl, 2017, para. 21; Schonert-Reichl et al., 2017, p. 18). The Collaboration for Academic, Social, and …

Reducing Hospital-Acquired Pressure Injuries Through The Implementation Of The Leaf Patient Monitoring System, Meghan Kelley
Dissertations
A top priority for all hospitals is patient safety. A major component of patient safety classified under this category is prevention of hospital-acquired pressure injuries (HAPIs), which are considered "never-events" by the Joint Commission and align with the World Health Organization as preventable harm. Due to current policies on a particular unit not proving to be effective at reducing HAPIs, the implementation of the FDA-cleared Leaf Patient Monitoring System was proposed. This technology uses a sensor adhered directly to the patient to reduce the trending HAPI rates on the a progressive care unit while assisting nursing in adhering to the …

ABSTRACT
Today’s students are facing an overwhelming number of obstacles that hinder their emotional, social, and academic growth. As a principal, I recognized this growing burden my students were carrying. Such hindrances as a rise in gun violence, continued socioeconomic disadvantages, and countless other more personal obstacles and their effects on students were evident inside the school setting. Many of our students were traumatized by these life changing circumstances and then left clueless as to how to handle them or the challenges life may bring next. The adults in our school and many of the families did not have the …
