Techniques are described herein for preventing Media Access Control (MAC) address spoofing attacks based on the two-step onboarding process for open Service Set Identifiers (SSIDs) due to Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) override after the Internet Protocol (IP) address is learned. These techniques leverage Opportunistic Wireless Encryption (OWE) and an access token to provide a secure channel between the wireless network and the client.

A wireless device, such as a smartphone, includes voice and data capabilities for a user. However, a user interface (UI) on the wireless device shows the signal quality of only the voice service signal. The user does not have information about the signal quality of data service which may be available to the user, creating a frustrating user experience. A user selects, via user input at a computing device, a text string that is output by a first application. This publication describes methods for detecting and mitigating image light-contamination when using active stereo cameras. Positioning an illuminator (or light projector) close to a camera underneath a cover glass of a user equipment (UE), such as a smartphone, can result in a direct optical-path reflection from the illuminator to the camera. If light “leaks” from the illuminator into one or both cameras, the emitted light contaminates the image(s) with extra light, which makes stereo matching difficult. This disclosure describes techniques for position location using WiFi or Bluetooth transceivers. In one implementation, the location of an object is triangulated using phased WiFi/Bluetooth arrays of narrow beamwidth and known locations. In another implementation, the digital frequency synthesis facility of WiFi or Bluetooth is leveraged to transmit a chirped radio-frequency signal to a target. The reflections of the chirp off the target, when mixed with the transmitted signal, give an estimate of target distance. Some applications of the described techniques include locating products in a supermarket, books in a library, objects in a home or office, etc.
