Ink Drooling Detection Based On A Pressure Drop, Hp Inc Jan 2021

Ink Drooling Detection Based On A Pressure Drop, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

During printing, the print‐zone reaches a temperature up to 45ºC. Eventually, the printhead

and the ink inside the printhead will reach the steady state temperature of the print‐zone.

This causes air bubbles in the printhead to expand due to the increase in temperature. If the

printhead cools down with a depressurized IDS (Ink Delivery System), the change in volume of

the air would be replaced by air entering through the nozzles, causing air ingestion problems.

This is the reason why IDS need to be kept pressurized after printing during the cool down

period.

White Printheads (Or Purgers) Removal Routine To Reduce Ink Spill, Hp Inc Jan 2021

White Printheads (Or Purgers) Removal Routine To Reduce Ink Spill, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

In some printers, a printhead receives a stream of a printing fluid from an intermediate tank

which is supplied with ink from a supply tank. In such a system, printing fluid can be fed from

the intermediate tank to the printhead using an air pump to pressurize the supply of ink by

pressurizing the air volume inside the tank.

During a printhead replacement, in order to reduce the ink spill, the pressure of the air is

decreased by deactivating the air pump and activating a pressure relief valve, hence reducing

the pressure of the ink. Nevertheless, when the intermediate tank …
