Preemptive Edge Application Instantiation, Mehmet Ozkan
Preemptive Edge Application Instantiation, Mehmet Ozkan
Defensive Publications Series
Cloud-edge computing is a paradigm that brings servers physically closer to end-users, e.g., by co-locating servers and cellular towers. Cloud-edge computing can reduce latency and improve performance for mobile applications. For cloud-edge computing to deliver a superior user experience, the location of application instantiation is optimally selected to be close to the user. However, as a user moves, an initially optimal location becomes unsuitable. This disclosure describes techniques to predict the next possible edge zones for a cloud-edge application to maintain performance and service continuity as the mobile device moves. The techniques leverage factors such as mobility history, network characteristics, …
A Homotopy Type Method For The Purposes Of Cloud Resource Management, Lei Liu
A Homotopy Type Method For The Purposes Of Cloud Resource Management, Lei Liu
Defensive Publications Series
This disclosure describes techniques to manage cloud resources by categorical generalization and by homotopy type deductions and constructions. Per the techniques, a foundation, a framework, and an internal-homotopy are developed for cloud resource management. Cloud resource management is developed by giving direct access to the induction principal without application of small object argument. An inner anodyne with a division algorithm transforms in nite resources to nite usage measures. An additive and a multiplicative structure implements the inner anodyne. The techniques leverage topoi, similar to an alternative universe, such that homotopy can be applied to cloud resource management. Inner bration is …

Intent Prediction Based On Contextual Factors For Better Automatic Speech Recognition, Diamantino Caseiro, Zelin Wu, Petar Aleksic, Era Jain
Defensive Publications Series
Automatic speech recognition (ASR) machine learning models are used to recognize spoken commands or queries from users. End-to-end ASR models, which directly map a sequence of input acoustic features into a sequence of words, greatly simplify ASR system building and maintenance. This disclosure describes techniques to improve the performance of end-to-end ASR models by providing predicted user intents as additional inputs. Intent prediction vectors or intent embedding is generated based on user-permitted contextual features using a trained intent prediction network (IPN). The IPN can be trained independently from the ASR model or jointly with the ASR model. Training of the …

High Voltage Operational Transconductive Amplifier (Ota) Design For A Control Loop, Jan Sundermeyer, Daniel Micusik, Juergen Hauenschild, Sachidanandam Sundarraju
Defensive Publications Series
An operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) is typically used in the optical transmitter for an analog control. Additionally, for an OTA, the input range may be shifted to the output range and the output range is to be limited to safely operate a cascode/drive transistor. OTA operation is linear and is not digitally switched. Presented herein is an OTA design that can operate with a power supply voltage greater than the drain-source voltage (VDS) breakdown voltage. The output range can be limited to the gate-source voltage (VGS) breakdown range and can be adapted to a desired range using a cascode transistor. …

Using Eye Gaze For Interactive Computing, Alexander James Faaborg, Michael Schoenberg
Using Eye Gaze For Interactive Computing, Alexander James Faaborg, Michael Schoenberg
Defensive Publications Series
User input to desktop and laptop computers is largely via the keyboard, pointing devices such as a mouse/trackpad, and to some extent, the touchscreen. Thus far, using eye gaze as an input, based on data from on-device cameras (e.g., laptop or desktop cameras) requires calibration steps; even so, since such cameras are relatively far from the user, the resulting input lacks precision. This disclosure describes techniques for human-computer interaction based on eye gaze derived from the user’s smart glasses. With user permission, the user’s eye movements, as captured by the camera on the user’s smart glasses, provides an additional interactive …
