Two-In-One Collapsible Mouse And Touchpad, Donny Reynolds
Defensive Publications Series
On some foldable laptops, it is possible for the user to detach the touchpad and use it on the side in tabletop mode. However, some users prefer the curved, ergonomic feel of a conventional mouse. Currently, a laptop user who wants the mouse experience needs to utilize a mouse that is separate from the laptop. This disclosure describes a bendable, rectangular surface that, when flat, serves as a touchpad, and, when arched, serves as a mouse. For example, the surface can be utilized for a laptop or other device as a detachable trackpad that provides the curvature of a physical …

Nowadays, the notebook computer is considered as a great powerful tool that many people do things
either in works or home always needed in daily. It makes people a convenient life whenever before, now and
future.
However, some common features are limited in closed‐ notebook without any input devices support.
(e.g., Keyboard mouse to mute the notebook without open screen) For this situation, an innovative idea is
considered. We try to use Frame Tap back of the screen, so that some common features would be feasible in
closed state. Also, the customization design in UI for user to adjust which …
Establishing An Unknown Class For Classification Algorithms Based On A Local Or Global Confidence Level Threshold, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
A machine learning model is given for classifying images according to different aspects.
Even though this model had a good accuracy on the test set, when it was deployed into
production, we (the model developers) started to face many cases with failures due to input
images that were not covered in our training or test sets. We’ve identified that these failures
commonly have smaller confidence levels, and hence applying a threshold value to exclude low
confidence predictions could work as a solution to avoid failures. In order to establish this
threshold value, we explored different threshold values with the confidence …

Dynamic Size 3d Packing Based On Factory Inter-Departure Time, Hp Inc
Defensive Publications Series
One of the most important concerns in 3D printing when it scales to a factory environment is the capacity of controlling
the throughput frequency to be able to achieve an optimal production of parts at the right timing in order to maximize
the profit.
In an automated factory with a fleet of 3D printers, the orders received are orchestrated in a linear sequence with several
stages including the packing of the parts inside the printable volume of a build and the build scheduling, which is queued
to be printed in a device of the fleet. As the process of printing …

The quality of data is typically measured on a subset of all available data. It is of interest to know if such a measurement, performed on a subset of data, is representative of the entire corpus of data. This disclosure describes techniques that use historical data and metadata of a given time series to determine the set of useful data quality checks that can exist. The set of useful data quality checks is compared to the actual set of data quality checks to provide a percentage of data quality coverage that a given data set has.

Make-Space Gesture For Touchscreen Input, Thomas Buckley, Robert Mickle, Abraham Murray, Tayeb Al Karim, Hiu Ying Chan, Maria Cirimele
Defensive Publications Series
When taking notes using a stylus, users often want to quickly make space to insert additional content in their note. In current applications, the procedure to move content to create space is tedious. While some tools provide an explicit make-space button, it requires switching context, which takes the user out of the flow of their writing or drawing. This disclosure describes a make-space gesture for use with stylus or finger input on touchscreens that obviates context switching and smoothly aligns with the user’s workflow. The user draws an arbitrary line (which can be straight, curved, or jagged) across the page …

Stylus apps support handwritten gestures for common actions by providing a menu to distinguish strokes from gestures. However, switching between the menu and the canvas can create context-switching friction. Moreover, attempting to reduce friction by eliminating the context-switch can lead to gestures being triggered unintentionally, unreliably, or unpredictably. This disclosure describes a multimodal gesture interface with a touchscreen that, with user permission, interprets spoken input provided by the user to confirm a gesture and its intended behavior. For example, after drawing a circle the user can say “select” to trigger the select gesture for strokes that the circle bounds. The …

Many touchscreen apps that support stylus or finger input provide a lasso tool, which is a free-hand selection tool. The lasso tool enables users to select strokes by drawing a closed path around a set of strokes to select them. However, selection using the lasso tool can be imperfect (not matching the user intent) and requires subsequent manual refinement. This disclosure describes a lasso tool for stylus apps that determines selection tolerance based on the speed with which the stylus is moved at different points of the selection path. A relatively slow stylus speed is taken as an indication that …

Touchscreen apps that support stylus input attempt to enable users to quickly delete content using a scratch-out gesture. However, these gestures require precision to make sure they cover all of the content that the user intends to delete. This often causes failure such as incomplete deletion and leads to the user having to retry the gesture. The deletion action thus takes longer than the user’s expectations, thus reducing trust in the gesture. This disclosure describes techniques that enable the user to tap or to use the scribble-out gesture to trigger a deletion. Further, dragging the scribble-out gesture surfaces an eraser …

Stylus apps support handwritten gestures for common actions by providing a mode to distinguish strokes from gestures. However, mode switching can create friction. Moreover, attempting to reduce friction by eliminating the mode switch can lead to gestures being triggered unintentionally, unreliably, or unpredictably. This disclosure describes techniques that reliably disambiguate strokes from gestures in stylus apps without mode switching and without the use of complex patterns to represent gestures. Per the techniques, a trace drawn on the touchscreen is initialized to a state in between a stroke and a gesture. The next action of the user determines the final state …

The present disclosure relates to providing authenticity for a document with respect to timestamp. In an embodiment, if a document is created at particular time, Hash(X) can be stored in a centralized place maintained by a trusted third party. But it transfers control over to Third party, to prove the authenticity with respect to the time at which document was created, which means, if that third party is compromised, the document loses its authenticity. For every second t, a public and private key pair is generated by a third party (T). When Hash(X) is given to T at time t, …

Quadcopters or drones evolved in two principal formats, being an ‘X’ configuration and an an ‘H’ configuration, whose forward direction is perpendicular to the appearance of the letter. With racing drones the two are combined at times to form an elongated centre-body that supports cantilevered arms which are canted fore and aft so as to approximate the ‘X’ shape. Nonetheless neither of these is necessarily the ideal configuration once the structures are scaled up in support of human carriage.
