Mechanism To Enhance Security Of The Quic Based Communication, Niranjan M M May 2022

Mechanism To Enhance Security Of The Quic Based Communication, Niranjan M M

Defensive Publications Series

Quick UDP Internet Connections (QUIC) is based on UDP/HTTP and TLS. While TLS provides adequate security, it is not very far to crack it with the increasing compute power of the devices, as TLS is based on Public Key Infrastructure (private/public key) methods, where-in keys are derived mathematically. As we know, asymmetric encryption (PKI) methods are not immune to cryptanalysis attacks from quantum computers, whereas symmetric encryption (with sufficiently large key sizes) is immune to cryptanalysis attacks. Hence there is renewed interest in symmetric encryption methods to deploy quantum secure networks. In short, currently QUIC uses TLS based method to …

Finding A Closest Match For An Elf File Based On Proximity Matching Of Extracted Identifiers, Armijn Hemel

Defensive Publications Series

A common task for companies is to find the provenance of binary files that they receive from an upstream source. Several methods exist to fingerprint a binary, including string searches, looking at function names, using code clone detection, and so on. Some of these methods use a scoring mechanism or chop a file up in smaller pieces, compute a hash and look hashes up in a database. This document describes a method to turn a sequence of strings and other identifiers into a locality sensitive hash using TLSH, which can then be searched in a special datastructure called Vantage Point …

Method To Support Ipsk For Wpa3 Clients As Well As Reduce Online Dictionary Attacks, Niranjan M M, Vijay Kothamasu, Nagaraj Kenchaiah

Defensive Publications Series

WPA3 was developed with the backward compatibility into consideration, i.e., if WPA3 is enabled on WPA2+PSK SSID (also called mixed mode), then both WPA3 and WPA2-only clients can associate to same SSID. This will work as long as SSID is configured to use default-PSK. In other words, if SSID is configured with iPSK, then WPA2-only clients can associate to the SSID using iPSK, but WPA3 clients fails to associate to this SSID using iPSK, as current WPA3 SAE negotiation does not consider iPSK (unique PSK per client). Also, WPA3 was introduced to combat offline dictionary attacks on WPA2+PSK by using …
