Application-Driven Optimized Sla-Aware Path Selection For Collaboration Applications, Dave Zacks, Paul B Giralt, Prapanch Ramamoorthy, Thomas Szigeti May 2023

Application-Driven Optimized Sla-Aware Path Selection For Collaboration Applications, Dave Zacks, Paul B Giralt, Prapanch Ramamoorthy, Thomas Szigeti

Defensive Publications Series

Currently, applications are at the mercy of a network’s infrastructure for the selection of a path within a network environment where more than one path exists between a source and a destination. Too often, the network infrastructure elements are unaware of an application’s requirements, or are aware of them in only a very rudimentary way. This situation is particularly dire for collaboration applications, which often have the most stringent requirements for path characteristics including delay, jitter, and packet loss. Techniques are presented herein that move the point of control for path selection to a collaboration application through a lightweight, in-band …

Graceful Failure Handling Scenario For N40 Online Charging, Mukesh Yadav, Abhinav Singh May 2023

Graceful Failure Handling Scenario For N40 Online Charging, Mukesh Yadav, Abhinav Singh

Defensive Publications Series

Within a 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) fifth-generation (5G) environment, in the event of a failure in a core network a prime approach of any operator is to provide seamless service to a subscriber. Techniques are presented herein that support the delivery of seamless service to a subscriber in the event of such a failure. The presented techniques provide a mechanism for reconciling subscriber usage in an automated way without the need for a propriety solution, which becomes difficult when a Session Management Function (SMF) and a Charging Function (CHF) are provided by different vendors, thus raising an interoperability challenge.

Active Mapping Of Rectifier To Voltage Supply Phase, N/A May 2023

Active Mapping Of Rectifier To Voltage Supply Phase, N/A

Defensive Publications Series

This disclosure describes techniques to automatically map rectifiers deployed in data center racks to their corresponding AC phases. Per techniques of this disclosure, rectifier AC phase mappings are determined actively by periodically deactivating and activating a rectifier, and observing the effects on respective phases of a three-phase supply connected to the rack where the rectifier is deployed. The rectifier is cycled through periodic deactivation and activation. Current series data for each phase of the three-phase power supply are obtained. Frequency components of the frequency used for actuation of the rectifier are recovered by applying a bandpass filter to the current …

Passive Mapping Of Rectifier To Voltage Supply Phase, N/A May 2023

Passive Mapping Of Rectifier To Voltage Supply Phase, N/A

Defensive Publications Series

This disclosure describes techniques to automatically map rectifiers deployed in data center racks to their corresponding AC phases. Rectifier AC phase mappings are determined by correlating rectifier input AC voltage measurements with bus-level per-phase AC voltage measurements over time. Patterns in the voltage fluctuations are utilized to associate individual rectifiers with individual phases via statistical correlation of measured AC voltages at the rectifier level and bus level. Correlations between rectifier level and bus level voltages are performed for each phase of the power supply. The phase voltage series with the highest correlation to the rectifier voltage series is determined to …

Improving 5g Call Setup Time And Reducing Load On Nnrf Interface, Jis Abraham, Krishna Chaitanya Mahamkali May 2023

Improving 5g Call Setup Time And Reducing Load On Nnrf Interface, Jis Abraham, Krishna Chaitanya Mahamkali

Defensive Publications Series

When establishing a PDU session, a session management function (SMF) receives a request from an access and mobility management function (AMF)/user device and exchanges messages with a number of network functions for performing the PDU session establishment. Currently, the SMF initiates a discovery request for each network function, which adds latency and load on the Nnrf interface. According to techniques described herein, the SMF sends only one discovery request for discovering multiple network functions, which reduces the load on the Nnrf interface and improves the call setup latency.
