Vary Temperature/Fan Updating Frequency With Cpu Workload Type To Extend Turbo And Improve Performance, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

This disclosure related to fan speed control in the notebook. Currently, fan speed depends on the readings from temperature sensors: CPU, dGPU and skin, which form a fan table. EC (Embedded Controller) constantly samples the temperature sensors at a fixed low frequency (for example, 1HZ), then put the readings through a smooth algorithm, then look up fan table and update fan speed. However, during CPU boost events, CPU power spike significantly for a brief period (few seconds), and it causes CPU/GPU temperature rising quickly. Thanks to the smooth algorithm, the fan does not depend entirely on the precise temperature at …

Based on the security posture of those workloads, an appropriate scoped token is returned. This ensures malicious / untrusted workloads in the path cannot re-use or proxy the …

Rapid Channel Plan Optimization Using Fast Tuning Lasers, Anonymous Jun 2024

Rapid Channel Plan Optimization Using Fast Tuning Lasers, Anonymous

Defensive Publications Series

The present disclosure relates to optical networking, namely a rapid channel plan optimization using fast tuning lasers. Fast tuning lasers, able to tune across the optical C-Band in < 10 ns, are becoming available. As such, the present disclosure explores using transceivers with fast tuning lasers and the coordination thereof to rapidly change the channel plan of a wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) system. This may be accomplished without the loss of traffic by briefly buffering data and ensuring the tuning + reacquisition occurs before the buffer overflows. An example of which is time division multiplexed (TDM) coherent passive optical networks (CPON) which attempt to achieve rapid acquisition (such as <2048 symbols target). This disclosure also explores a dual control signals scheme for fast tuning lasers, claiming the solution of using two power supplies: one low frequency control signal (LFCS) and one high frequency control signal (HFCS).
