Filtering Model Driven Telemetry Data Of Network Devices To Optimize Full Stack Observability, Sudha Sankar, Debashree Jena Barat, Shivani Palaniappan, Pranothi N, Dmitry Goloubew
Defensive Publications Series
Full Stack Observability brings together data from multiple operational domains to provide unified visibility, derive real-time insights and recommend actions to improve application performance, application security and resource optimization. The volume and scale of telemetry data from various domains is extremely large. This can eventually strain the platform and result in processing delays. A filtering mechanism at the data source, such as at the network devices, can help propagate only the crucial model driven telemetry data to the platform. This solution would help address the issue of telemetry data volume by efficiently reducing it at the source.

Delivering Live Q&A In Videos Via Synthetic Content Generation Using Generative Artificial Intelligence, Daniel V. Klein, Paul Mccartney
Defensive Publications Series
Pre-recorded videos provide a non-interactive viewing experience that is suboptimal for learning or engagement. This disclosure describes techniques that leverage large language models (LLMs) and generative video models to enable viewers of an informational/educational video to pause the video and ask questions to the presenter (the person in the video). The question is analyzed, and an answer is generated using an LLM. The LLM may be fine-tuned to the persona of the presenter of the video such that the generated answer matches their style. The answer is delivered with the face and the voice of the presenter in the original …

Managing Spatial Affinity For Edge Application Development And Deployment, Myungjin Lee, Brianna Marie Barrow, Ramana Kompella
Defensive Publications Series
Current approaches for associating edge devices with the correct application instance as edge devices are on the move often require changing end device configuration/policy, which can be inefficient and burdensome. In order to address such issues, techniques proposed herein provide a library of tools, including an affinity manager, to enable scalable edge application development, deployment and management. The affinity manager facilitates communication between service instances and edge devices by registering service instances and providing edge device with information on the service instances. When an edge device moves to a new area, the proposed techniques leverage a local area translation function …

Intelligent Provisioning Of Digital Experience Monitoring Agents Based On Observed Network Service Flows, Jay Kuhne, Peter Clayton-Luce, Steve Holl
Defensive Publications Series
Current network observability discovery and design of network monitoring tools for a network operator is often dependent upon the analysis of a network configuration and anecdotal input from the operator indicating their perceived service-level assurance needs. Specifically, the placement of monitoring agents within a network for such designs is fairly subjective and may not be reflective of the actual usage patterns and utilization of the network for traffic initiated by end-users or applications. This proposal leverages actual network behavior in order to generate recommendations for agent placement, as well as to optimize agent placement and, optionally, to auto-deploy an agent …

Current large language model (LLM)-based platforms offer interactive user experiences with limited personalization. Although these LLM-based platforms can leverage publicly available and trained data to provide contextual responses to user queries, they cannot securely leverage private data about the user to personalize the experience. As a result, current systems lack the ability to provide context-sensitive and personalized content that meets specific user requirements or preferences. Moreover, robust privacy safeguards are needed to properly leverage and optimize a user’s private data for content delivery. To address these issues, proposed herein are techniques for providing an application programming interface (API) service that …

In an instrumented application, telemetry data may be collected and displayed. During transit from the instrumented application to an observability platform, the telemetry data may make multiple hops from service to service in a complex pipeline, which may lead to the loss of some telemetry data. Techniques described herein solve the telemetry data loss problem by detecting, pinpointing, and quantifying the loss of data. The techniques address specific use cases of telemetry, such as data sampling and batching. The techniques enable identification of problems at underlying collectors in the observability pipeline.

This solution allows the feature “contention-based ranging” to be scalable (i.e., to work properly regardless of the density of users), based on 3 complementary improvements:
1) By allowing only a subset of Responders to participate to a given ranging round, the Controller does not need to increase the number of slots in the CAP, as the density of users increases. This enables to maintain the same level of distance measurement accuracy, while limiting the risk of collisions.
2) The Controller may conversely increase the size of the CAP as much as desired, unlike in current FiRa specifications.
3) The Controller …

For current vehicle/navigation systems, an optimized/best route can be suggested for a desired user destination based on many criteria, such as distance, traffic, etc. However, such routing often does not consider real time factors that may be present for streets, such as the presence of streetlights and their working or operating conditions. In order to address such issues, proposed herein are techniques through which vehicle navigation systems may be enhanced to determine an optimal route for a given destination based on one or more safety features, such as streetlight availability and streetlight operating conditions, for night driving scenarios.

Conventional digital experience monitoring and synthetic testing methods can only monitor and test one active network path, which limits their effectiveness in generating a robust network solution. For example, conventional methods do not leverage information about potential alternate paths formed by standby devices, thus leading to lost opportunities to proactively prevent and/or respond to device degradation. In order to address such issues, proposed herein are techniques that generate an integrated visualization that dynamically overlays device status and performance data on network paths involving redundant devices. The integrated visualization provides a tomographic view of device performance for all potential paths in …
