User Interface Personalization Based On User Preferences And Practices, Ajay Prasad
Defensive Publications Series
While some websites and apps support manually configurable user interface personalization, such personalization approaches do not evolve dynamically with changing user preferences and do not effectively leverage the collective intelligence across the user community as a whole. Non-personalized and difficult to use user interfaces can lead to user frustration and/or reduced engagement. This disclosure describes techniques that, with user permission, leverage individual and community user preferences and practices for dynamic real-time personalization of a UI including one or more of layout, content, and functionality. User interaction with the personalized layout as well as explicit user input is used to fine-tune …

Measuring Documentation Effectiveness From Page Engagement And User Actions, Varun Bhargava Sankuri, Jacky Hayward, Jacqueline Hyunh Olson
Defensive Publications Series
Traditional metrics of technical documentation fail to capture the business outcome of technical documentation because such metrics only measure engagement with the documentation itself, not the user's actions (product adoption, task completion, etc.) after engaging with the documentation. This disclosure describes techniques to determine the business outcomes of technical documentation and to make prescriptive recommendations to improve the documentation. User actions are divided into on-page engaged behaviors (referring to user interactions with documentation pages) and off-page conversion outcomes (referring to user actions with respect to a product that the documentation corresponds to). A metric, referred to as highly engaged sessions …

Improving Avatar Expressiveness With Feature Blending In Parametric Model Space, Yinda Zhang, Rohit Pandey, Sean Fanello, Feitong Tan
Defensive Publications Series
As avatar images become more photorealistic, users may start noticing fine-grained details (e.g., wrinkle movements) that significantly degrade photorealism. This disclosure describes techniques to generate photoreal avatars that can convey nuanced facial expressions. In contrast to traditional single-image-based avatar generation, with user permission, multiple enrollment images of a user with various facial expressions are obtained. The enrollment images are leveraged to model novel facial expressions in the avatar of the user. By following driving signals, the techniques can generate plausible avatar images with accurate facial expressions, including high-frequency details such as wrinkle movements. The techniques help in surpassing the uncanny …
Towards Graph Foundation Models: Learning Generalities Across Graphs Via Task-Trees
Towards Graph Foundation Models: Learning Generalities Across Graphs Via Task-Trees
Defensive Publications Series
Foundation models aim to create general, cross-task, and cross-domain machine learning models by pretraining on large-scale datasets to capture shared patterns or concepts (generalities), such as contours, colors, textures, and edges in images, or tokens, words, and sentences in text. However, discovering generalities across graphs remains challenging, which has hindered the development of graph foundation models. To tackle this challenge, in this paper, we propose a novel approach to learn generalities across graphs via task-trees. Specifically, we first define the basic learning instances in graphs as task-trees and assume that the generalities shared across graphs are, at least partially, preserved …
Is Graph Convolution Always Beneficial For Every Feature?
Is Graph Convolution Always Beneficial For Every Feature?
Defensive Publications Series
Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have demonstrated strong capabilities in processing structured data. While traditional GNNs typically treat each feature dimension equally during graph convolution, we raise an important question: \textit{Is the graph convolution operation equally beneficial for each feature?} If not, the convolution operation on certain feature dimensions can possibly lead to harmful effects, even worse than the convolution-free models. In prior studies, to assess the impacts of graph convolution on features, people proposed metrics based on feature homophily to measure feature consistency with the graph topology. However, these metrics have shown unsatisfactory alignment with GNN performance and have not …

Apparatus, System, And Method For Efficiently Driving Backplanes Of Displays With Linear Control, Ajit Ninan
Defensive Publications Series
Circuitry may control and/or drive the brightness and/or luminance of pixels within displays. For example, an AR head-mounted display (HMD) may include and/or represent circuitry, such as a driver unit, that controls and/or drives the brightness and/or luminance of a perceptual quantizer (PQ) and/or gamma display. Using Artificial Intelligence To Adjust Entity Risk Scores Based On Rule Activity, Pramod Joisha, Timothy Peacock
Defensive Publications Series
An entity risk score can be determined based on how an entity interacts with an organization’s computing resources. The entity risk score can be adjusted based on a rule hit score (RHS), which determines how many rules are triggered by the entity’s interactions with the organization’s computing resources. A value of the RHS can be determined using a bipartite graph that includes information for a certain time interval.
