Salt stress is one of the major abiotic stresses that seriously limit plant growth and development and can lead to a significant reduction in crop yield, especially rice. Salt stress affects plants via ionic toxicity and osmotic stress. Osmotic stress results in a reduction of water absorption ability. Black garlic has emerged as one of the fastest-growing health food products on the market. It is processed by incubating fresh garlic under high temperature and high humidity conditions. The process causes the changes in characteristics of black garlic such as texture, flavor, nutrient contents, chemical composition and it pharmacological properties, especially antidiabetic activity. In the present investigation, we applied α-glucosidase inhibition guided isolation to identify active compounds. Four compounds named 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF), 5-hydroxymethyl-2-furancarboxylic acid (HMFCA), 4-(hydroxymethyl)phenol and 2-deoxy-ribono-1,4 lactone were isolated. This study aimed to isolate secondary metabolites from the stems of Abutilon indicum and to evaluate their α-glucosidase, pancreatic lipase, α-chymotrypsin inhibitory activity. Chromatographic fractionation of the n-hexane crude extracts led to the isolation of three known metabolite (1-3). The crude extract from all parts of the plant were evaluated for inhibitory activity on the alpha-glucosidase enzyme. The DCM-soluble roots were active with 10.2% at 25 μg/mL. In this study, a small-scale method using thin-layer chromatography (TLC) was developed to determine profile and antioxidant activity value of Thai honey samples obtained from different flora sources. Prior to TLC analysis, the samples were prepared by solvent extraction with dichloromethane. The objective of this research was to investigate the physical, chemical, and functional properties of tapioca starch subjected to solid-state modification by using nonthermal dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma treatment using different gases (helium and argon), voltage levels (10 kV and 15 kV), and treatment times (5, 10, and 15 minutes). After treatment, an increase in L* value and a marginal decrease in pH value of all treated samples were noted. The research was carried out to determine the extent of surface water and sediment pollution using the physicochemical parameters and heavy metal concentrations. The surface water and sediment samples were obtained from 25 sites along the river on March 22 and September 5, 2019 at the main river influenced by the complex tidal regime and aquaculture practices in Ca Mau peninsular in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta. Many people living with HIV (PLWH) have cognitive impairment. Details of cognitive impairment subtypes are lacking. Unsupervised machine learning (ML) can reveal hidden subgroups within heterogeneous data. The study aimed to determine clusters of aging Thai PLWH with borderline cognitive impairment using unsupervised ML. HIV-NAT 207 study enrolled Thai PLWH aged ≥50 years. Cognitive performance was evaluated by the Thai-validated Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA). This study included participants who scored between 23 and 27. The increasing development of colistin resistance in Acinetobacter baumannii clinical isolates is a global concern. Due to the limitation of effective antibiotics, the antibiotic combination therapies are the alternative choices. Here, we investigated the prevalence of colistin resistant A. baumannii (CoR-AB) clinical isolates and their resistance mechanisms, and examined the in vitro synergistic activities of the antibiotic combinations against CoR-AB. Among 341 carbapenem-resistant Acinetobacter spp., 317 (92.0%) were identified as A. baumannii by gyrB multiplex PCR. A successfully novel technique for refined palm olein hydrogenation to free trans-fat margarine production using non-thermal dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma has been demonstrated. Thus, we aimed to investigate the effects of gestational IH on the muscle development and metabolism of geniohyoid (GH), which is innervated by the respiratory-related hypoglossal nerve and plays a role in tongue traction and suckling, in male offspring rats compared with masseter (MAS), the largest masticatory muscle. Long-chain olefins (≥C10) are important commodity chemicals, which are primarily used to manufacture everyday products such as plastic packaging, surfactants and detergents in cleaning products, and lubricant oil additives. However, the long-chain olefins are currently synthesized from the petroleum refining process via ethylene oligomerization or thermal cracking of long-chain paraffins. To support the Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) model, the direct synthesis of olefins from renewable feedstocks has become an attractive route to promote overall sustainability. Clinical Efficacy Of Silk Sericin Dressing With Collagen For Split-Thickness Skin Graft Donor Site Treatment, Apirujee Punjataewakupt

Sericin dressing containing collagen hydrolysate (SDC) was evaluated in this study, consisting of two phases of clinical trials. The clinical safety of SDC was determined using a patch test in 103 healthy volunteers (phase I). Most of the results (around 90%) in the SDC group were interpreted as negative and doubtful reactions, and the remaining results (around 10%) were weak reactions. After that, the clinical efficacy and safety of SDC were investigated in 21 patients with 30 split-thickness skin graft (STSG) donor sites (phase II). Identification, Antifungal And Plant Growth Promoting Activities Of Endophytic Actinomycetes From Orchids, Nisachon Tedsree

Sixty-two endophytic actinomycetes were isolated from 15 Thai orchids. They were identified as Streptomyces (34 isolates), Micromonospora (21 isolate), Streptosporangium (2 isolates), Actinomadura (1 isolates), Amycolatopsis (3 isolates) and Pseudonocardia (1 isolates) based on their phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and genotypic characteristics. The antimicrobial activity screening revealed that Streptomyces (18 isolates), Micromonospora (12 isolates) and Streptosporangium (1 isolate) exhibited antimicrobial activity against Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633, Kocuria rhizophila ATCC 9341, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Nowadays, vegetable oil has attracted attention in its role as an alternative solvent. Its ability to dissolve various active compounds from plants has been proven by several previous studies. Moreover, other benefits of the use of vegetable oil as a solvent are affordable, non-toxic, and eco-friendly. High ambient temperature (HTa) is one important environmental factor that decreases food intake (FI). It is well accepted that high degree HTa induced heat stress decreased FI by the activation of corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) via hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis. However, short-term low-degree HTa exposure has been demonstrated to decrease FI earlier than activated physiological and stress responses.
